A Fabulous Cottage

Review Submitted: June 6, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011
My family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children) just returned from a stay at La Clergerie. We stayed in the two bedroom cottage and it was exactly as pictured and as stated. The size was perfect for all of us. The cottage was extremely clean, well appointed and highly maintained. Christine, the owner was very friendly and professional. Upon arrival, she gave us a tour of the property and showed us how everything worked, which was very helpful. The beds were lovely to look at and extremely comfortable. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful landscape with a small frog pond which our young children really enjoyed. We also enjoyed watching the cows in neighboring pastures. This is a lovely cottage and makes for a wonderful stay in Normandy. My only regret was that we weren't there long to send more time in the cottage. Thank you, Christine!

A beautiful experience

Review Submitted: September 14, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
We just loved our stay at the Old Bakery during July. The cozy house is perfect for a couple or small family. The renovations were quite spectacular. We appreciated all the informations given by our hostess. A more tranquil stay, could not be had. We hope to come back soon, since the Normandy region and beaches are quite tempting. The only hiccup is the mention of the internet access and spa, these are not free, (5 euros per day internet + 20 euros per two hours for spa), this should be specified before arrival our included in rental. Apart from that, everything was great.

Owner's Response: We are very pleased that Mr and Mrs G enjoyed their stay at the Old Bakery so much. However on checking our e-mail to Mr G at the time of his booking we found that we had indeed informed him that electricity for the hot-tub was charged extra, at cost, according to use and he must have simply missed it. All our charges are fully stated on the web-site as part of our terms and conditions. We would also point out that in France
free access to WiFi idepends on the relationship between the client's server and SFR and generally visitors from outside the EU are required to purchase a key code.

Normandy leisure

Review Submitted: April 16, 2010 Date of Stay: June 2009
A warm welcome awaits you at La Clergerie, hostess Chris offers so much practical help and local expertise. We have stayed at the farmhouse three times over the past three years and each visit has been as wonderful as the previous one, high standards have been maintained. If you catch a ferry from Portsmouth or Poole, then within 50 minutes of leaving Cherbourg you can find yourself relaxing with a glass of wine whilst overlooking the beautiful gardens and countryside. La Clergerie offers excellent, spacious and well equipped accommodation which is kept clean to a very high standard. A great place to use as a base for discovering the beaches, villages and towns of historic Normandy. La Clergerie is an ideal location as part of a two centre holiday option for visiting southern and central France and beyond or as that extra special addition as a Channel hop while in the South West of the UK.

Wonderful and relaxing stay

Review Submitted: April 16, 2010 Date of Stay: April 2009
My husband, son and I stayed here during an April visit to the Normandy region. La Clergerie was even more beautiful and relaxing than anticipated by our imaginations or the pictures showed. The property is close to all the sights and beaches. After a day of touring, we would return to have the guys take a run or to read a book, only to be greeted by Annie and Daisy and to be offered a cup of tea by our charming host. Our host gave us wonderful tips on the local sights and even arranged a fabulous Norman meal to celebrate our visit to this beautiful region. The rooms were immaculate. The beds were so comfortable, we slept like babies. The Kitchen was well equipped which we used every day during our stay. The gardens and pond were beautiful. Its been a year since our visit and we still can't stop talking about our wonderful visit. If you are planning a trip to Normandy, La Clergerie is the place to stay. I hope we will return in the near future.

Normandy dream

Review Submitted: April 10, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2009
We have stayed in many wonderful cottages on our trips to Europe, but La Clergerie is a must for anyone who wants an amazing stay in Normandy. It stands out in our memories as one of, if not the very best. The location in the countryside is excellent and we could travel easily in a number of directions. The historical house and grounds are charming and the furnishings and decor are, without a doubt, the most beautiful we have experienced, but comfortable and homey too. Christine has done a fantastic job of decorating and she is both friendly and helpful, giving us directions and suggestions and telling us stories about the area and the incidents of D-Day and following. We hated leaving and wished that we could have had more time to talk with her and explore the area. If you are considering staying here, do! You will love it, as we did.
