Delightful 17th Century Cottage in Honfleur
The cottage is the birthplace of famous French impressionist painter Eugene Boudin (born 1824). It is situated in a quiet area of the old town, only 4 minutes walk from the picturesque ancient port, which is now a marina for large and small luxury yachts and some preserved wooden boats. The port is surrounded by interesting shops, art galleries, restaurants and Saturday market. The cottage is tastefully decorated and comprises 2 double bedrooms, living room/diner, shower room, WC, luxurious fully equipped fitted kitchen (recently installed) with electric oven, hob, fridge, washing machine, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and plenty of matching crockery, cutlery and glasses. It has full central heating and equipped with TV, DVD player and radio. There are pretty views through the front windows across Honfleur to the hills beyond.

Honfleur is one of the most picturesque old fishing ports in France and beloved by tourists from all over the world. The centre of attraction is the Vieux Bassin (Old Port) with its boats, quays and tall, narrow, slate-fronted waterside houses. Near the old port is St. Catherine church built by local ships' carpenters entirely from wood (except for the foundations) to celebrate the departure of the English after the Hundred Years War. The Eugène Boudin museum contains many artefact's which relate to everyday life in Normandy in the 18th and 19th-centuries. There are also extensive collections of paintings by artists who worked in the region, and a large number by Eugène Boudin, who was born in Honfleur in 1824 (actually in our cottage). Honfleur has many restaurants, which surround and overlook the old port, and from April to September most of them have tables situated outside under large canopies close to the water's edge, where you can enjoy the luxury yachts coming and going.
Local activities swimming, tennis, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, golf, wind-surfing

| Notes: | The new fitted kitchen is fully equipped and very attractive. Cleaning equipment is provided, including vacuum cleaner, ironing board with iron, brushes, mops etc. just in case you might need them!! Blankets, pillows and mattress protectors are supplied and included in the rental. However, bed linen (sheets, pillow cases and towels) are not included, but can be hired at very reasonable cost and we would be pleased to book them for you if you are not able to bring your own. Non smoking preferred. |
PARKING AND EXTERIOR -
There is street parking almost opposite the cottage and also just round the corner in the adjacent road. Our road is one-way with very little traffic, mostly residential. The area surrounding the cottage is very quiet and only 4-5 minutes walk to the centre of Honfleur. Unfortunately we do not have our own garden. The cottage is entered through a side shared courtyard, which is for access only. With consideration for our adjacent neighbours, it cannot be used for sitting out or barbecues.
SUITABILITY -
The cottage has a steepish spiral staircase and may not be suitable for the elderly, infirm or persons with restricted mobility. The two bedrooms are on the first floor with one room accessed from the other. Although there are sufficient beds for six people (by using the convertible sofa in the living room) plus two further single beds in the main bedroom, the cottage is not large and would ideally be suited for up to four adults plus two children.
BED LINEN -
Blankets, pillows and mattress protectors are supplied and included in the rental. However, bed linen (sheets, pillow cases and towels) are not included, but can be hired at very reasonable cost and we would be pleased to book them for you if you are not able to bring your own.
Golf Information:
- There are excellent golf courses at Deauville, only 25 mins by car from Honfleur, at St. Gatien about 10 mins away and at Pont l’Evêque about 15 mins away.

Just a quick note to say how much my parents enjoyed staying at the cottage. We're feeling rather nostalgic about our trip last year and wishing that it could be an annual event. Honfleur was one of the nicest towns that we stayed in, in all France. We would love to spend another week in Honfleur in the future. Thank you for your hospitality and the loan of the DVD's. KIM & MARK (Canada). I just wanted to say thank you. We had a simply splendid holiday and the cottage contributed by delivering everything we wanted. I'd be happy to recommend your place. The holiday was a great success. KATHY. We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our visit! We experienced much more serendipity than any travellers have any right to expect and staying at your cottage added so much to our overall experience. All the arrangements went smoothly, your agents were so helpful . Thanks again for an amazing experience that we will all remember fondly. KATHLEEN & ALAN (Beverley Hills, USA).
