Self-catering close to beaches, countryside, historical sites and all amenities

Barfleur is listed in the top 100 of France's most pretty villages. The exceptional situation of this 'maison de famille' will allow you to combine restful holidays in a preserved and maritime environment with more dynamic activities such as swimming, walking, cycling, sailing, riding, fishing, birdwatching, etc. Only a minute walk from the beach you can live with the rhythm of the tides. Recently restored by an architect, this large self catered house with 8 bedrooms is ideally fitted for one or two families or a group of friends. Ground floor: large living room, kitchen , bathroom + WC, a bedroom which is accessible to people with reduced mobility or can be used as an extra sitting room. 1st floor: bathroom+ WC, 4 bedrooms (3 with view on the sea). 2nd floor: bathroom + WC, 3 bedrooms with single beds but flexibility to move them around to make double. The south facing courtyard is equipped with garden table and chairs so you can enjoy your meals facing the harbour.

Barfleur is a charming fishing harbour full of history: William the conqueror left from here in 1066.

You will be able to enjoy the 'French way of life', as you can do your shopping on foot, buy your fish straight from the boat just across the quay (10 yards), appreciate food and drinks from Le café de France 2 doorsteps away, take a stroll along the harbour, have several invigorating swims a day as the beach is only 1 minute walk from the house. Barfleur being in the Cotentin peninsula, has a similar micro-climate to The Channel Islands which gives mild temperatures ,exotic and lush vegetation.

The preserved coastline offers a wide range of habitats and is kingdom to Nature lovers. There also are varied types of beaches: rock pools, creeks, dunes...

Barfleur is ideally spotted to discover the rest of the area: historical sites such as the Normandy Landing Beaches, Le Mont Saint Michel, Bayeux Tapestry but also the Natural Park des Marais du Cortentin, the aquariums of Cherbourg.

Additional information about rental rates

  • During school holidays : 900 Euro per week
    During school holidays and in July and August, changeover days will only be on Saturdays.
    And we only rent full weeks.



    Please, contact us for weekends.
  • Once you have decided to book this house, I will send you a contract. Your booking will be confirmed once I receive a signed copy and a 30 % deposit. Balance is due on arrival as well as a deposit of 200 Euro for eventual damage.
    Linen (bedding + towels+ tea towels) is not included but can be provided for 15 Euro extra per person.
    Cleaning can be booked in advance for 120 Euro.
  • Do not hesitate to ask us services such as shopping before your arrival, booking restaurants, taxis, or courses on your behalf.
    We can also find bay sitters, cleaners, etc...

  • To access 'Chambre lits superposés' (bunk beds) you have to pass through bedroom ' Jouy bleu' with the double bed. To access 'La petite chambre', you have to pass through 'La chambre marine'. There is plenty of place to add baby cots or folding beds. Some of the beds can be joined to make double beds. Bedding is not included in the price but can be provided for 10 Euro extra per person. The house is fitted with double glazing so although it is on the quay it is very quiet.

Tolles Haus, toller Ort, tolle Menschen

Wir waren im Oktober in Barfleur in diesem Haus. Die Beschreibung hier auf dieser Seite verspricht nicht zu viel, im Gegenteil. Alles ist vorhanden, liebevoll eingerichtet und die Betreuung vor Ort ist lässt keine Wünsche übrig. Barfleur ist ein urgemütlicher Fischerort und es gibt genügend Möglichkeiten, die Umgebung zu erkunden. Auch ist es sehr bequem, dass das Haus so zentral liegt, dass man alles zu Fuß erreichen kann, incl. Strand. Wir haben die Zeit genossen und würden, bzw. haben es schon weiter empfohlen.

We have used this house on two occassions. the house is perfect. We could not find better accomodation for touring the d day beaches. very clean, an excellent view, good parking, restaurants and shops close by.The lady who looks after the proprty could not be nicer ,she has excellent english and is soooo sexy.If you are going to stay in Normandy this house is worth real consideration....you will not be dissapointed!

Just perfect

My family (of 11 people) has been holidaying together in France for 15 years and this location was the best ever. Beaches, shops, restaurants etc were within walking distance, the location overlooking the harbour was superb and the house was a 'home from home' with everything that we needed.
Adding the excellent service from the agent and the easy drive from Cherbourg this will be a favourite for some time to come.

great house in picturesque village

This is a fantastic house in a great location in very nice village. Plenty to do around without need to use car; Barfleur is very picturesque and plenty of sightseeing opportunities few kms around. Lovely house just across the harbour. Quite safe with kids who have plenty to play with. Great rocky beach few meters from villa. Inside, very spacious - we were 12 and quite comfortable. Easy access from Cherbourg makes it also very suitable for Week Ends. We'll be back for sure! I would thoroughly recommend.

Great holiday, ideal for two families

We really enjoyed the house,spacious, well-equiped & clean. Lots of activities in this lively little port, close to shops and the fresh fish directly from the boats a must !
The area is well-preserved with lovely surrounding countryside & beaches.
Hoping to go back very soon for another stay !
