Celine - cosy chalet in Les Gets - sleeps 9

Traditionally-built wooden chalet in a quiet location just off the Chavannes road with far-reaching views over the village and valley. It is possible to ski back to the chalet for most of the winter season. The chalet has a homely feel with its open-plan living and dining room and an open fireplace. There is a large south-facing balcony, providing space for eating outdoors in summer or for simply admiring the views over the village and valley. A garage provides sufficient space for storage of ski equipment or mountain bikes, and there is parking for 2 cars. There is a separate, self-contained apartment on the ground floor.

Les Gets dates from the 11th century and its name refers to the passages between the trees through which wood is transported to this day by the foresters. In the summer, the area is lush with trees and flowered meadows and criss-crossed by walking and mountain bike tracks. In winter, it is a popular skiing resort with slopes for skiers of all abilities and part of the huge inter-linked Portes du Soleil, the largest skiing area in the world. The many lifts serve not only skiers, but a smaller network is also adapted to carry bikes in summer. Les Gets is only 30 miles from Thonon on Lac Leman (Lake Geneva), with opportunity for water sports and for exploring the cities and towns along the lakeside - from Geneva and the lovely medieval village of Yvoire in the south to Evian, Montreux and Lausanne in the north. Other sightseeing possibilities include the historic town of Annecy with its lake and canals, and Chamonix with Mont Blanc and the impressive Aiguille du Midi cable car.

Winter notes:- In winter, the chalet is ski-in from the Les Folliets lift and 200m from a stop for the free shuttle bus that runs every 20-30 minutes between the village centre and the Les Folliets lift. It is about a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive to the village centre. We can arrange airport transfers, and advise on and assist with ski hire, ski lessons, lift passes and child care. Linen and towels are included in the rental rate. Summer notes:- During the summer, the swimming lake is open. It is set in parkland near the Adventure Park and is only a 15 minute walk from the chalet, together with a children's playground, sand volleyball court and pony rides. Only linen is included in the rental rate and towels are not provided.
