Chalet Etoile is a new build five bedroom traditional style French ski chalet situated in the small Alpine village of St Jean D'Aulps, 6km from the resort of Morzine in the Rhones-Alps region of France. This holiday rental chalet is just a little over an hour drive from Geneva airport in the heart of the Portes du Soleil area which offers the largest international ski area in the world with over 650km of marked runs catering for all levels of skiing, and 350km of marked paths for mountain biking, walking and hiking. It is just a 10 minute walk to the shops, bars and restaurants in the village centre but benefits from the kind of fantastic views and tranquil setting the French Alps are famous for. This rental accommodation has an outside Hot Tub and all mod cons, and is ideally situated for activity holidays such as skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, walking, hiking, swimming, watersports, fishing, golfing, and horse-riding. The Morzine area of the Alp has excellent facilities.

Chalet Etoile is only a short walk from the village centre of St Jean D'Aulps situated in the heart of the beautiful Vallee D'Aulps. St Jean offers a quieter and more attractive alternative to a more centrally located Morzine chalet, but with easy access to all the facilities. Ideal for a family holiday. Saint-Jean d'Aulps ski resort is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area, with 650kms of slopes the Portes du Soleil is a group of 14 French and Swiss ski resorts, and is the biggest international ski area in the world. It covers 400 hectares, 206 ski lifts, and 288 slopes (41 green runs, 109 blue runs, 110 red runs, 28 black runs, and 4 snowcross). There are 200km walks and treks at every level of difficulty and from 30 minutes to 3 days. The area is also ideal for Climbing, Mountain Biking, Paragliding, Kayaking, Canoeing, White Water Rafting, Hydrospeeding, Swimming, Fishing, Pony Trekking, Tennis, Ballooning and Golf.

It covers 400 hectares, 206 ski lifts, and 288 slopes (41 green runs, 109 blue runs, 110 red runs, 28 black runs, 4 snowcross). It also has hundreds of kilometres of free ride areas.

St Jean D'Aulps local ski area, a 2 minute drive from the Chalet, is called 'La Grand Terche' and is served by a regular free ski bus stopping near to Chalet Etoile. La Grand Terche offers excellent intermediate level skiing and magnificent scenery. The area is also linked to the resort of Bellevaux and its 'Domaine Roc d'Enfer', with an impressive 11 km run descending back to 'La Grande Terche'. There is an 'ESF' ski school which provides lessons for all levels and accepts children from the age of 4. Younger children from 2 months can use the nearby crèche which has a very good reputation.

'It was FAB!! We even managed to 'snowboard' (when not sliding down the slope on my backside!!)
The Chalet was beautiful, the hot tub was great. We are already discussing coming back!!

'Sorry i haven't been in touch I have been meaning to since we returned but somehow have got sucked back into manic family life!! We had a great time, the chalet was wonderful, everything was beautifully clean and suited the two families perfectly. We had great weather with snow and sunshine, I can't fault anything!!
We will be back.....

'Hi Peter, thanks for the email. We have had a wonderful week and can highly recommend the chalet to everyone. The location is fantastic with easy access to the whole of porte du soleil ski area and we were also very impressed with local ski area as well bearing in mind our group ranged from novice to advanced skiers!

So good we`ve booked again for next year

I stayed at Chalet Etoile in January 2011 with ten other like minded skiers and enjoyed it so much that we booked the chalet again upon our return to Blighty. Finishing a days skiing/boarding with a Hot tub before going up the Hill to dine at "Pere Bill`s" was something else.
We found the chalet spacious and equipped to a high standard, the caretaker even arranged our lift passes and delivered them to us on arrival prior to hitting the Piste the following day. We thought this was a fantastic touch.

The communal table was a brilliant size for our early morning coffee as we planned our Mountain routes and dining preferences for the evening. The local "Carrefour" en route to morzine has a lovely selection of Wines, cidres, Port and Cheese.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
