The mountain walking, hill trekking, mountain biking, parasailing, rock climbing, horse riding and white water rafting during spring and summer. The two rivers that carve the region, d’Aspe and d’Ossau, are wonderful fishing rivers too. The unbelievable sight of the Needles of Ansabere are certainly worth seeing from any holiday rental in Haute-Bearn. During the winter months, these mountains are a silent skiing haven, especially in ski resorts like Gourette. Nature thrives in the stunning Parc National des Pyrenees, with an astonishing array of creatures, from brown bear to chamois, griffon vulture to Royal Eagle.

During the summer months, the allure of the beach can be overpowering. Gourette is a magnificent, modern ski resort in the French Pyrenees. With some wonderful downhill pistes, which run through open slopes and pine forests, boarder-cross trails for snowboarding, two ski schools and a snowpark, a rental chalet in Gourette is ideal for family skiing holidays with empty pistes.

Laruns is the administrative centre of Haute-Bearn, and an ideal location for a full exploration of the area. It is a perfect place to buy food, as some of the world’s (possibly!) finest butchers are found in Laruns, as well as a great number of places of interest to explore.

Les Eaux Bonnes is the oldest ski resort in the Pyrenees, and is also a fine spa town throughout the year. Les Eaux Bonnes is a beautiful resort, where you can ski or walk by day and sooth weary limbs with leisurely, long suppers and wonderful spa sessions.

Cheap flights to Haute-Bearn, France

Pau’s Pyrenees Airport (PUF) is within around 30km of a holiday rental property in Haute-Bearn. There are regular flights from Bristol (BRS) and London Stansted (STN), provided by Ryanair. A hire car is strongly recommended to anyone wishing to really explore the mountains and the coastline of Aquitaine.
