Apartment L’Oree du Bois is situated in Montmin, 15 minutes above the lakeside village of Talloires and 20 minutes from the beautiful town of Annecy. Montmin is a small alpine village situated 1000 metres above the lake and one mile from the world renowned paragliding centre at Col de Forclaz. Nearby there are three restaurants plus a nursery ski slope in winter from December to the end of February. The apartment has stunning mountain views and its location is ideal for enjoying the Annecy region all year round.

Montmin is a beautiful, peaceful mountain village with several restaurants and it's own ski area. The nearby Col Du Forclaz has spectacular views of the lake and is an international launchpad for paragliders. Lake Annecy with its many beaches, swimming and water sports is a 15 minute drive. Nearby, Annecy is one of the most charming and attractive towns in the Alps. Its small medieval quarter is laced with canals, flower covered bridges and arcaded streets. Annecy has hosted stages of the Tour de France – most recently in 2009 and is currently bidding to host the winter Olympics 2018. The ski resorts of La Clusaz and Grand Bornand are about 35 minutes drive. Chamonix Mont Blanc is a 1 hour drive. Other local activities include abseiling, canyoning, cycling, fishing, golf, rock climbing, sailing, swimming and tree-top parascending at the Foret d'Adventure.

Notes: The studio is clean, bright and newly re-furbished, located on the first floor of a tastefully renovated apartment block that is sympathetic with the surrounding mountainside. It has a tranquil setting and stunning mountain views from its balcony. The kitchenette is fully equipped. The living area has a modern and comfortable sofa bed. The bedroom (with a curtain for privacy) has a full size bunk bed.

The area is famous for its local cheese, Reblochon and the delicious dish, Tartiflette. Cycling is very popular with the Tour de France passing through in 1997. Montmin is also the base of many beautiful alpine walks with the Grand Randonnée Du Pays Tours du Lac D’Annecy nearby. In winter there is a small ski lift ideal for the young family learning to ski.

There are 2 golf courses, the spectacular 18 hole golf course at Golf du lac D’Annecy at Echarvines on the east side of the lake (Tel: 00 33 4 50 60 12 89) and the 9 and 18 hole course at Golf de Giez. The nearest ski resorts of La Clusaz, Grand Bornand, Les Saisies are 35 – 40 minute drive. Chamonix is an hour away by motorway. The lake with its spectacular scenery is known to be the purest lake in Europe. The lake itself is great for swimming and water sports with some good lakeside restaurants.

Great views, peaceful relaxed atmosphere :)

An amazing part of the world, this apartment was really cosy, in a lovely block just off the beaten track, it was exactly what we were expecting, and the addition of a TV made it perfect for the night we were snowed in!
The peaceful, relaxed atmosphere was perfect for an off season get away, with Annecy and Fergerves just 20 mins away we found the mix of the quiet mountain villages and larger towns perfect. We did alot of walking around the hills and mountains right outside the apartment with trails going in all directions, up and down! We also ventured into Fergerves for some ace mountain biking. There is so much to see and do in the local area. We found some great restaurants and bars in the local towns, we visited in the early season so some of the mountain top restaurants were not yet open but we are assured by the locals they are great!
The owners were very efficient with all aspects of the holiday booking, really friendly and easy to deal with.
We would recommend this apartment to anyone, it is very peaceful and picturesque, and we will definitely be back :)

Paragliding/Relaxing Holiday

We were very familiar with the area, my husband having flown from Col de la Forclaz on many occasions. Having usually camped in Faverges we were looking forward to some creature comforts. We were not disappointed. The appartment is clean and neat and very quiet with all the facilities necessary. The bedroom contained a bunk bed and the double bed was the sofa. There was adequate linen for the beds.

It is a long drive to get provisions though. Another drawback was the lack of mobile reception which gave our friends some problems in getting hold of us.

My husband liked the place so much he stayed for another two weeks after I left, lucky devil. I was just glad not to get wet every time there was a storm and I could spend hours on the balcony looking at the mountain.

We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone with a good car who wants a quiet retreat within reach of all the tourist sites.

In May 2006 we had a relaxing week in this quiet, functional appartment in the mountain village of Montmin.The small town of Annecy with its beautiful lakeside setting,romantic canals and famous Sunday market is only a 20 minute drive away.The centrally located shopping centre"Courier"caters for every taste.We were very pleased with the quality and service of the lakeside restaurant "Chalet du Port" in nearby Menthon St. Bernard.Chamonix(about an hour's drive) offers numerous walking/hiking paths for all ages and the trip from Chamonix village in the "Montenvers" cog wheel train to view the "Mer de Glace" glacier was spectectular.
We have no hesitation to recommend a visit to this beautifully located appartment.
