Les Capucines is a restored 17th century farmhouse which comprises three properties - Le Grenier, L'Ecurie and Le Marronnier. They are set in a tranquil, but not isolated, position on the edge of a hamlet of just 13 houses. The hamlet is surrounded by rolling countryside and is just 20 minutes from the nearest sandy beach. There is a large sheltered swimming pool and well laid out gardens of about 1 acre. Table tennis, swings and slide, sandpit, table football and bicycles are all available for use by clients. Sun beds and parasols are provided around the pool area and each gite has its own barbecue and table and chairs for outdoor eating.

Le Grenier is a one bedroom apartment facing south over the rear garden and open countryside. It is accessed by a flight of stone stairs to the side of the property. Le Grenier has a cosy lounge area with large window overlooking the gardens. It has a kitchen/dining area which is compact but well-equipped. It has a double bedroom, tall chest of drawers, two bedside cabinets and hanging wardrobe area. Off the bedroom is a light and airy shower room. Le Grenier has it's own barbeque, table and four chairs in the garden outside the apartment.

Les Capucines is located in the hamlet of La Pilette, which is less than a mile from the village of Lussant. This village has a baker, butcher, general store and small post office, together with two cafes and a restaurant.

Les Capucines is just 8 miles east of Rochefort-Sur-Mer. This is a historic naval town with many places of interest to visit including the Corderie Royal and the rebuilding of the naval ship the 'Hermione'.

The property is ideal as a base to visit either the coast for a variety of beach/water activities, or to visit the regions many attractions - La Rochelle (for the pretty harbour and famous Aquarium), Cognac (to visit the distilleries and sample the produce), Royan (for the Zoo and the wide sandy beaches).

Additional information about rental rates

  • A security deposit of £150, in the form of a cheque, is required with the final balance (and dated for the first day of the holiday). This will be returned at the end of the holiday, subject to any deductions for damages/breakages as agreed with the client.
  • There are no extras - our rates are fully inclusive of all bed linen; towels (hand, bath, tea, and beach); electricity, and full use of our wide range of equipment and facilities.
  • A deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before the arrival date

We had a lovely week at Le Grenier despite the changeable weather!. The property was clean, well equppied and the swimming pool a brilliant bonus. Lots of information on the local area was provided which was very helpful.

We found the location good and really enjoyed our visits to the Ile de Re (very pretty harbours), La Rochelle (try an ice cream from Ernest le glacier!) and Fouras for its lovely golden beaches. Rochefort is the biggest place nearby to get a good meal and we recommend a visit to L'Hermione, the rebuilding of an 18th century frigate.

Would love to come back again!
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway

The only thing that is completely out of our control is the weather - however, the variable weather you experienced enabled a mix of sightseeing and some lazy days by the pool - we are delighted you had a good time here and look forward to welcoming you back again sometime soon!

Accommodation was clean, comfortable & excellant value for money. Lovely pool with plenty of subeds and the owners were pleasant, helpful and around if needed but left you to yourselves if that is what you wanted. Would definately reccommend but you would need a car as nearest shops are 5-10 minute drive. bicycles were available to borrow.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children

Exploring the area

Lovely relaxing holiday

We had 10 days of wall to wall sunshine and a lovely relaxing holiday. Great part of France with lots of touring around - but still managed to enjoy the pool.
