Les Capucines is a restored 17th century farmhouse which comprises three properties - Le Grenier, L'Ecurie and Le Marronnier. They are set in a tranquil, but not isolated, position on the edge of a hamlet of just 13 houses. The hamlet is surrounded by rolling countryside and is just 20 minutes from the nearest sandy beach. There is a large sheltered swimming pool and well laid out gardens of about 1 acre. Table tennis, swings and slide, sandpit, table football and bicycles are all available for use by clients. Sun beds and parasols are provided around the pool area and each gite has its own barbecue and table and chairs for outdoor eating.

L'Ecurie is a two bedroom house with it's own private terrace and barbeque area. This includes a table, chairs and parasol. It has views over the gardens at the front of the property. L'Ecurie consists of a spacious lounge and dining room and well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms - one good sized double room with large double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and small chair, and one very large room with three single beds, bedside cabinets and two double wardrobes. The bathroom, with shower attachment over the bath, is situated between the two bedrooms.

Les Capucines is located in the hamlet of La Pilette, which is less than a mile from the village of Lussant. This village has a baker, butcher, general store and small post office, together with two cafes and a restaurant. Les Capucines is just 8 miles east of Rochefort-Sur-Mer. This is a historic naval town with many places of interest to visit including the Corderie Royal and the rebuilding of the naval ship the 'Hermione'. The property is ideal as a base to visit either the coast for a variety of beach/water activities, or to visit the regions many attractions - La Rochelle (for the pretty harbour and famous Aquarium), Cognac (to visit the distilleries and sample the produce), Royan (for the Zoo and the wide sandy beaches).

  • A security deposit of £150, in the form of a cheque, is required with the final balance (and dated for the first day of the holiday). This will be returned at the end of the holiday, subject to any deductions for damages/breakages as agreed with the client.
  • There are no extras - our rates are fully inclusive of all bed linen; towels (hand, bath, beach and tea towels); electricity, and full use of our wide range of equipment and facilities.
  • A deposit of 25% is required at the time of booking with the balance payable 8 weeks before the arrival date.

Perfect Location and Hosts

My family have now had two amazing holidays based in this Gite, the location is quite stunning, there are long balmy evenings just waiting to be enjoyed in the private garden. Karen and Paul are like old friends already they instinctively know what you require and ensure that they enable you to have the holiday of your choice.
The pool area is really rather perfect for enjoying the late afternoon sun, the gardens are a tribute to Karen and Paul's hard work.
I thoroughly recommend this property to anyone looking to have a lovely holiday in France.

Our first visit to Les Capucines and hopefully not our last. Karen & Paul were the perfect hosts, ready with advice and recomendations when required but with total respect of our privacy. They care a great deal about the property and the area which is reflected in their maintenance of it. The pool area is a delight and so are the gardens. It is in easy reach of La Rochelle and Ile de Re, which are both well worth a visit, plus golf courses, beaches and Chateaux. There are also many restaurants within a short drive.

L'Ecurie and Le Marronnier

We stayted at the 2 bed gite L'ecurie in 2006 and the 3 bed gite Le Marronnier in 2007. We found both gites to be clean, comfortable and very well equiped. The gardens are well kept and the pool and upkeep were immaculate. The table tennis and bicyles provided were enjoyed by all. We used the local tennis court most mornings and visited the local beaches most afternoons.
The owners are extremly kind and very helpful hosts and we would have no hesitation in recommending Les Capucines to friends and hope to visit again in the future as we found both our stays to be wonderful family holidays.
The Jaguar short break holiday is something we would like to sample in the future.

A lovely friendly welcome, a comfortable, warm gite (sunny but cold outside in April), making a great convenient starting point to explore the Charente Maritime coast and countryside. A welcome week's break after the wet and windy English winter! Thankyou.
