We have been coming to Corsica for some years and found this little gem! It is ideal for those wanting a quiet break in this beautiful area. It is a very pretty and historic mountain village set at an altitude of around 330m with approx 200 inhabitants. The village has a bar, 2 small (hard to find!) shops and a Boulangerie for fresh bread in the morning. It will suit those who want a quiet holiday and to sample village life for real. Corsica has a charm all of its own is reputed to be the most beautiful of all the Mediterranean islands featuring a rich variety of scenery from sandy beaches, craggy mountains, cols or passes, chic towns, dramatic coastlines, precariously perched mountain villages, forests, vineyards, & rocky rivers. This non-smoking apartment is located on the second floor of La Maison Jaune & enjoys 270º views of the valley towards Montegrosso and the mountains around Calvi. The property, renovated sympathetically by us in 2005 is located in the village square.

This amazing airy apartment is approached from the first floor landing up a further staircase leading into the fully equipped kitchen with an electric cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The shower room leads off the landing. Here there is also access to the private roof terrace with its views over the surrounding area and roof-tops. A range of patio furniture is provided should you wish to relax in the open air. At the rear there is the cosy living room with double doors affording stunning views over the surrounding countryside. A bed settee is also provided to the living room.To the rear of the living room there is a double bedroom with attractive ancient tiles on the floor and direct access to the sunny terrace. A further twin bedroom is located overlooking the village square to the front of the house. This apartment is comfortably and well furnished with a combination of traditional and modern furniture enabling you to sit back and enjoy your holiday.

Notes to the rental rates

• OUTSIDE THE NORMAL HIGH SEASON WE ARE FLEXIBLE ON START AND FINISH DAYS. We ask our visitors to pay a refundable Accommodation Deposit of €300 and 30% of the total rental charge at the time of the booking. If you are making the booking inside around 8 weeks from the start date then we ask for the entire rental amount when making the booking. We refund the Security Accommodation Deposit (€300) in the event of no damage. If you are paying in a currency other than GBP or Euro this can be paid by a Guaranteed bank cheque which we return to you after your holiday. A laundry cleaning charge of €13 / person/ week is also made. For bookings for longer than one week the bed linen and towels are changed after one week. When you complete the booking you will receive full details on the apartment and how to find it. The property will be clean and tidy for you when you arrive. There will be freshly ironed sheets for the beds.
  
• WE CAN BE FLEXIBLE ABOUT START AND FINISH DAYS OUTSIDE THE MAIN SEASON. PLEASE ENQUIRE IF YOU NEED DIFFERENT START AND FINISH DAYS OTHER THAN SATURDAYS.
  
• Corsica is an ideal destination for out of season breaks. The weather is lovely in late April, May and September, even early October. The temperature in Zilia is one or two degrees cooler than at the coast.

How To Get to Corsica

Easyjet from some UK French and German airports to Nice then Air France to Bastia or Calvi, also Corsican Ferries and SNCM by sea from Nice to Bastia or Calvi. Aer Lingus from Ireland to Nice or Marseilles, then a flight to Corsica or use the ferry. Holiday Options (charter flights) from the UK to Basia or Calvi (Holiday season only). Scheduled flights with BA from UK to Marseilles and then on to Corsica. EasyJet from London (Gatwick) to Bastia (however only Sunday to Sunday). Air France from Paris to Calvi or Bastiia.

Corsica must be one of the Mediterranean’s last unspoilt havens. With its diversity of scenery you can easily experience high mountains over 2,000m with their craggy summits, spectacular gorges, picturesque villages clinging precariously to rocky outcrops, chestnut forests and a variety of Europe’s best beaches in one single day sightseeing. Corsica often called - Ile de Beaute is much favoured among walkers, hikers, nature lovers, bird watchers etc for its variety of scenery and rugged countryside. Perhaps if you are fortunate you will hear the local men singing the traditional Corse Polyphonic singing. Sometimes one or a number will sing spontaneously to the tourists who gather near the village square to admire the view of the valley below the apartment.

Walking and Hiking

Our visitors have started a book in which to record places to visit and things to do in the area. There are some great walking routes in the area and some have been reviewed by our visitors. We gladly accept additions to the book and those making use of it must realise it is only from the experiences of friends who have used the apartment and does not carry any recommendation from us! The area is ideal for an out of season break and we are happy to consider bookings shorter than one week.
