This fantastic 2-bedroom apartment is hidden away in a gorgeous courtyard building in the Quartier Martyrs, a bustling French neighbourhood. It's a clean, well-equipped property, ideal for a young family or a couple looking for a spacious pied-à-terre. The master bedroom is furnished with a four-poster bed and generous armoire, while the 2nd bedroom has one primary twin bed with the 2nd trundle tucked underneath. The eye-popping bathroom has both a huge tub & separate shower stall for bathing, and the separate WC insures an uninterrupted bath time. The double living/dining area is spacious & bright, with amenities including Wi-fi high speed internet, a 32 inch widescreen TV with digital channels including CNN and BBC, DVD player, and a stereo with CD Player, which plays mp3 CDs and has a special cable to connect in your iPod. Tucked in a corner is a proper desk for if you really need to work. The seating area contains leather Parisian club armchairs and a top grade sofa-bed (sleeps 2).

  • The bathroom is eye-popping, indeed. It's bright, well-lit and has plenty of storage space under the sink and space for toiletries around the basin. The bath is full-size, which is not always the case in Paris and there is a separate, large shower stall. The WC is off the main foyer, so the person in the bathroom does not tie up the WC too.

  • The master bedroom has parquet flooring, a four-poster bed, a generous armoire (wardrobe) and traditional bedside tables. It is comfortable and most of all it is quiet as it opens onto a quiet courtyard. The sofa-bed in the living room converts with one hand (really) and has a top-grade mattress, suitable for use all the time, not just occasionally. It's the same size (160cm wide) as the four-poster bed in the master bedroom. The second bedroom is small and has ample space for a single bed. A second single is stored underneath and can be pulled out with very little effort if two people need to use the room. There is built-in wardrobe space in the second bedroom. The second bedroom also opens onto a quiet courtyard, but a different one from the master bedroom.

Notes: This property is in a wonderfully French neighbourhood. A recent article in the New York Times said 'there is no better place to rent an apartment and to pretend, even for a brief time, to live in Paris'. Well, that just about sums up the area. Lots of boulangeries, boucheries, traiteurs, cafés, restaurants, etc. It's all just 15 minutes from Galeries Lafayette and the other grands magasins and you can be at the foot of Scaré Coeur in around 30 minutes (well it is uphill!). The building has a Gardienne (cater taker/ superintendent) who looks after everything and makes sure the place ticks over. Of course this helps make the place feel a real haven in the heart of the city. Your temporary neighbours include people of all ages including young children, young married couples and one gentleman who has lived in the building since 1957.

Comfortable & spacious

My mother (84), sister & daughter (7) and I stayed here for 5 days, and loved it! It was comfortable & spacious. The apt. & kitchen were so inviting, we ate dinner in most every night - pate & cheese, fresh loaf of bread, glass of wine, etc. at the big dining room table, then, read & watched TV on the big screen tv.

Marvelous soaking tub & loads of hot water. Clean, well-maintained apartment.

Just a short walk (ok 300+ steps) to Sacre Couer and the nightly light show at the Eifel Tower. Only 7 - 8 blocks to the L'Opera for bus tours & shopping.

We felt welcome at the corner grocery store, patisserie & shops just up the street. Plenty of local restaurants to enjoy.

We'll stay here again when we return to Paris.
