The studio is located in an 18th century 'hotel particulier', so typical from the Marais. It is on the first floor (with elevator) overlooking a quiet, but bright courtyard. A large and high window allows lots of light to come in. It has wooden floors and a 3,50m high ceiling with traditional parisian wooden beams that provides great volume and character. It has been decorated with taste, many charming details and art-deco features. It is ideal for a romantic stay in Paris, or comfortable for a business-trip as well.

Le Marais is an old typical parisian district. Museums such as Historic Museum of the City of Paris (Carnavalet) or Musée Picasso are just nearby. The area is very lively (though the street on which the appartment is located is itself very quiet) and most of the houses have been freshly restored, becoming new fashion designers shops, art galleries, or nice restaurants. Centre Georges Pompidou and Hotel de Ville are both 5 minutes walk. It is also an easy walk to Notre-Dame, ile St Louis, ile de la cite, place des Vosges. The appartment has several supermarkets nearby (including a bio store) and local typical food stores just minutes away on rue Rambuteau. The closest bakery with delicious baguette is just 1 minute away. And you'll find the oldest covered market of Paris, marche des enfants-rouges, just 5 minutes away (great fresh food and wonderful take-away).

  • A security deposit of 300 euros in cash will be perceived on the day of your arrival, and given back to you the day you leave.
  • the bed is on the mezzanine 5 feet high only !.....you have to be alert !
    I can't ask if you are young enough .....or not too fat ......of course......but since I am 62 myself and feeling like beeing like when I was a student in paris, I never thought that this mezzanine could be of any problem !
    There is a velib (bicycle) station, 2 min from the appart ! ..... and you can jogg every morning along the Seine too !
  • 30 euros for cleaning if you want to have it taken in charge.

Shopping and going around: The appartment is also ideally located for serious shopping as the Marais is one of the best locations in Paris with lots of designers and independent stores, very conveniently opened on Sundays. It is also near the Bazar de l'hotel de ville, one of Paris' large department stores and just 15 minutes away by tube from the Opera and the well-known galerie Lafayette and Printemps department stores. Having 2 tube stations nearby, Arts-et-metiers and Rambuteau, you can easily reach any area in Paris in 15-30 minutes by tube, or take buses that will take you accross the Seine in the quartier Latin in just 10 minutes.

Beautifully appointed studio!

Daniele, the owner, was there to greet us and show us around this beautiful apartment.The photos do not do the main area justice!

This studio is done in the best of taste and the rental fee is very good. It is located near two metro stations; the area is full of wonderful places to dine; near a number of museums and has easy access to others. We think it is very suitable for 2 people.

Having rented properties off this website before we feel we would be remise in not sharing some of the concerns we have regarding this accommodation:

Bathroom - tub is very deep and those not familiar with hand-held showers will find use a challenge.
Washing machine - takes only small loads and as a dryer is not available creativity is necessary for drying items. A laundromat is available in the area.

Two major concerns were:
The Loft - ceiling is very low, less than 5 feet under the beams. Maneuvering in these cramped quarters was a challenge. Open staircase to loft has 10 steep stairs.
Night noise - in order to keep the studio cool at night the window must be left open. We were awoken every night from the sounds of motorcyle traffic, arguments and fights from the surrounding streets.

We really loved the main area of the studio, a very comfortable place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine, to relax after a day of touring; very pleasant surroundings!

Friendly, helpful owner and well-located flat

Pros:
The owner, Danielle, was very accomodating, helpful, and friendly. The apartment was in a superb location, clean, and very nice. And, the price is right! Danielle even waived the cleaning fee as we did some of the cleaning ourselves. She allowed us to split up our time, with six straight days in Paris, a weekend in Normandy, and one last night in Paris. She also let us stay until 2:30 p.m. on the last day for check-out.

Cons:
I might not suggest this place in the summer time, because I don't think there is air conditioning. The bed is in the loft. We were kind of hot even when turning off the heat, until we learned to sleep with the window open, as Danielle had originally suggested. There was some construction going on next door, but it didn't bother us, as it didn't start until 9 a.m. or so. The bathroom was not ideal as there was a very mild odor from the toilet and the shower took some getting used to.

Overall:
I would recommend the apartment to a couple, as long as it wasn't in the summer. I would probably contact Danielle to stay at this apartment, or her other available apartment in southern France for any future trips.

Excellent place to stay in a great location !

We just returned from our wonderful holiday in Paris, and we loved this small apartment. It was perfect for us, with cable TV and high speed internet. The owner was absolutely delightful, and a joy to work with. She went "above and beyond" and helped us when my husband left his travel bag (with wallet, credit cards, cell phone, camera, etc.!) in the taxi on the way to the airport. She arranged for it to be returned and then she mailed it to us. Aside from the lovely apartment (best for just two people), having a wonderful owner to work with made the entire holiday a very happy and positive experience! I would highly recommend it - and the location is perfect! Close to Notre Dame, metros, museums, and shopping ! Go for it!!
