This 900 square foot apartment looks into a paved courtyard with tubs of flowers and shrubs, yet you are 2 minutes away from the Bac-St. Germain crossing. Metro station there is Bac-St. Germain, an area where the French nobility had mansions and large gardens, many of which remain. Food lovers will be delighted to have a full kitchen and dining area. Why not shop at the outdoor market on Boulevard Raspail, or the Grande Epicerie du Bon Marche, a feast for the eyes as well as Paris' best food store. Away from street noises, you will be woken up by birds. Located on the second floor (two flights of stairs), the apartment has two main rooms: a large living room with two, almost floor to ceiling windows, a deep alcove closed by curtains with a queen-size bed, and a pull out sofabed. The kitchen/dining area has a large window also looking into the courtyard. Heat is electric, so is the kitchen stove. Clothes washer also in the kitchen. Bathroom has large tub and shower. Internet, TV and ph.

You are 10 minutes away from the Musee d'Orsay and the Seine River, with the Louvres on the other side. Paris' most famous cheese shop is around the corner. Discover a wealth of designer clothing stores hidden away on small streets. A wide choice of movie theaters and restaurants, including the Petit Zinc brasserie, Les Deux Magots, Lipp, Cafe de Flore. Made famous by the Da Vinci Code, St. Sulpice remains intriguing. Also many book stores. A favorite evening walk takes you along the Seine to Notre Dame, by the starting point for excursion boats, and return through streets dating back to the Middle Ages. Also in the area are the Luxembourg Garden and Museum near the Senate, and the Sorbonne. Besides the Bac-St. Germain Metro station, you also have St. Germain des Pres and Sevres Babylone, in front of the Hotel Lutetia. A underground parking is available rue du Bac, it's called Montalembert. For excursions to the country, take a fast train (TGV) at Gare Montparnasse or Gare de Lyon.

  • The bathroom has an old-fashioned full deep tub with a shower. It's decorated with chestnut wood paneling and has a tile floor. There is a large mirror at the sink and a very large mirror built into the wall behind you, when you are facing the sink. The toilet is around the corner away from the sink allowing for privacy

  • The main bed is queen size and is located off a deep alcove with curtains in the living room. That's the largest room with 2 floor to ceiling windows looking into a paved courtyard. In the same room is a pull out sofa/bed. The bed and the sofa have duvets and extra pillows. Sheets and towels are provided.

Notes: The apartment is quite spacious and comfortable consisting of two very large rooms and a full seperate bathroom off from the kitchen through a door just inside the entrance. The kitchen was designed for convenience and ease of use which translates into a fully-equipped all electric kitchen including a clothes washer built-in under the kitchen counter. There is a folding clothes dryer rack in a closet. The three very tall French windows open up to let fresh air flow through the apartment along with the sound of chirping birds in the small private courtyard which the french windows open upon. This part of Paris has become a center for excellent shopping literally two minutes walk from the apartment down Rue Du Bac! The Bon March department store and adjoining supermarket are just a brief walk down Rue Du Bac and excellent green grocers, pastry shops, cheese shops, butchers and convenience shops are all a brief walk from your fully equipped apartment!

Property does not deliver what it promises a shame

While the location of this apartment was excellent the general condition was extremely poor, linen and towels need to be replaced a as must be 10 years old, bed not comfortable, paint and plaster peeling off walls, the so called flower filled courtyard was a shabby barren area except for the garbage bins, the common area staircases had soggy wet carpet and damp smells (actually the whole building stunk with damp) the hot water ran out constantly and the wifi would not work at all and nothing was done to assist when we complained about it making it a nightmare for us to organise tickets and train arrangements as no internet cafes in the area. We didnt expect a palace but we were dissapointed that the property didnt offer the basics like decent towels and sheets, enough hot water and internet as it promised. Find somewhere else but definately stay in this area of Paris as it is well located and many local shops and bistros are worth a visit.

Charming & comfortable

What a great find! the apartment was comfortable and homey. What a location, too. The neighborhood is chock-full of delightful stores and markets, boulangeries, epiceries and bucheries are just a stone's throw away. The fully-outfitted kitchen is a budget-saver when you can fix some of your own meals during a long stay.
Although it is in the center of the most active area in Paris, we were so pleased at how quiet it was. We slept like stones in the comfortable bed. We walked to almost every major museum from the apartment in a matter of minutes. The Metro is 1 minute from the door with other connections a few minutes away. We couldn't have been more pleased and will use this as our Paris base every time we visit.

Helene's apartment was not fancy or upper end - but it was exactly as described.

The furnishings were adequate - the bed OK. The kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom was average.

What makes this apartment worth the money is its convenience to the Metro station. We had no idea how important that would be to help make our trip to Paris one we'll always remember with fondness.

Helene was very helpful in providing suggestions for shopping, eating, etc.

We felt very safe walking to and from the apartment at all hours of the day and night.

The apartment is very secluded with no road noise, yet just around the corner you have the metro and very easy walking access to many of the main sights - we walked to the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Pantheon etc and only used the train to Montmartre. If you walk to Bac St Germain station you are just a few stops from the Gare du Nord/Eurostar.
The property is pleasantly furnished and feels spacious for the centre of Paris. It felt like a real French home. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was no noticeable noise from other apartments, although many were empty when we were there in the main holiday season.
We would happily recommend this apartment to friends, and would return ourselves.
