Aboukir 4
Review Submitted: April 8, 2009
Date of Stay: March 2009
We stayed in flat 4, which I am pretty sure is in the same building as this flat. Although I will note the exact apartment we stayed in, differes from the one in the pictures.
We were given directions from the airport to the apartment which were very clear, entered into a shop front with various codes which was a little scary and surreal as it was pitch black! Although I would say that we had a little difficulty finding our flat as it was through a different door, and we werent sure if we were trying to open someone elses front door! The apartment itself was well equipped and (apart from a few material changes) matched the picture we were sent of the place. One major downside after 8 hours of travelling was the shower- it absolutely stank! So we didnt use it the whole time we were there, but guess that could just be the Parisian drains. The apartment could have been cleaner there were wrappers under the bed, and some suspicious looking handprints up the wall above the bed!!
Location was great, near loads of shops, restaurants, etc which were open til late at night which was ideal after a day of sightseeing. Took around 10 minutes to walk to Notre Dame and the Opera. Also, had the pay as you go bikes right outside the front door.
We were rudely awoken by a lady banging on our door, as we didnt realise the clocks had gone forward an hour!
All in all, I think the apartment was good value for money considering its location (and price in comparison to most other places in Paris), however, next time we may pay that little bit extra for a hotel, mainly for security, cleanliness, and ease after a long tiring day!!But we would also never say never to returning for a short weekend stay.
Owner's Response: Flat 4 is located in a building with 3 other sister flats.
There is now a sign on the main door to find easily flats 3 and 4 (on the same floor).
For any problem (cleaning, hot water, electricity, ...) we are always reachable on our mobile phone in order to solve it.
