The Grand Massif Express lift is now open in summer as well as winter; this is fantastic news for walkers, bikers, paragliders and sports enthusiasts alike.
Winter facts….The Grand Massif is the 4th largest ski area in France and has one of the lowest lift to beds ratios…so much smaller queues than other well know resorts. Samoens now has a high speed lift from 1600m up to 2500m…this means less queuing, less time on the lifts and more skiing!
We are also offering some fantastic alternative activities in the winter, so if you are a non skier there are plenty of other exciting things to take part in, why not try our snow shoeing trip for example...a fantastic experience after which you can enjoy a delicious Savoyard meal in a Yurt on the side of the mountain!

Summer: Samoens is thriving in summer and offers a truly excellent holiday destination for family activities. With average temperatures in the mid to late 20s and numerous activities on our doorstep, it's a holiday not to be missed. With the Grand Massif Express lift now open in summer, you can easily enjoy: Mountain biking, hiking, climbing, rafting and other river activities, quad biking, horse riding, canyoning, swimming in lakes, adventure parks, parapenting, archery, golf, historic tours, botanical gardens, waterfalls, nature reserve, wildlife walks, kids club etc... These are all within 5 minutes of Samoens! A little further afield is Annecy, Geneva and Chamonix Mont Blanc. If this is all too much, then simply relax in the numerous cafes and even at the beaches that surround the local lakes. It’s not essential to drive, but in summer a car is useful and we are only 8 hours drive from Calais. Airport transfers can also be provided and a taxi service operates in Samoens.
Ski:
The apartment is perfectly situated for your skiing holiday. All equipment can be hired from the sports shop opposite and ski school, etc., booked. Samoens is part of the Grand Massif, one of the largest ski areas in Europe. It is made up of Flaine, Morillon, Les Carroz, Sixt and Samoens. It offers extensive skiing and snowboarding, with a great snow record which is one of the best in the Alps. There are numerous reds and black runs locally and of course over in Flaine, where experts are well catered for. The piste - Consists of 14 black runs, 51 red runs, 53 blue runs, 15 green runs and 116 snow canons. Samoens ski area starts at 1600m, so a reliable base for good snow. Also, Samoens now has a new high speed 6 seater lift (the Chariande Express) which allows skiers and snowboarders to get to the Tete de Saix 3 times quicker than before!
Golf:
There are some fantastic golf courses within easy reach of Samoens, the nearest being Les Gets at only 10km away. You can enjoy a round of golf on an excellent course whilst enjoying spectacular views of Mont Blanc in the back ground. Also nearby we have Flaine golf course and a little further away, but still within 1 hour drive from Samoens there is Chamonix golf course.
