The Hauts de la Vanoise apartment is ideally situated in the centre of Val Thorens. Access to the slopes is literally over the road and it is within 100m of all the shops and restaurants. It makes for a very stress-free ski holiday. The apartment has a south-west facing balcony with stunning views of the mountains and pistes. The studio itself sleeps 3 people with a sofa bed and pullout single bed in the living area and foldaway bed in the hallway. There is a separate bathroom with bath, shower and WC. The kitchen is well equipped with four-ring hob, microwave and fridge. The building also benefits from boot/ski locker. Val Thorens is Europe's highest ski resort at 2300m. Being such a high resort, you are guaranteed doorstep skiing on some of the best high-altitude snow from November to May (as well as during the summer on the glacier).

Resort Details: Val Thorens is part of the Three Valleys, one of Europes highest ski resorts and set at 2300 metres. It has over 600 kilometres of runs and 200 ski lifts. Skiing is groomed for all standards from beginners to advanced. The apartment itself is situated literally opposite the slopes making it extremely stress free and easy to return for lunch and at the end of the day. Val Thorens has a superb selection of bars and restaurants and three discos. There is a fabulous sports complex with swimming pools, jacuzzis, saunas, tennis courts, squash, golf simulator, gym. The resort also offers volleyball, a climbing wall, snow scooters, paragliding and a cinema. It is only 40km from Moutiers where the snow train arrives and with frequent buses up the mountain there is no need for a car. There is also a variety of airports to choose from - Geneva, Lyons or Chambery.

  • We rely on all occupants leaving the apartment clean, tidy and damage-free when they leave. The prices have been kept low to account of this. A £100 refundable deposit will be asked for to ensure it is left in a clean and tidy state for the next occupants.

    A £200 deposit will be required to secure your booking. The remaining balance will be required 6 weeks prior to your holiday.
  • Apartment is available from 2pm on Saturday for arrival to 10am Saturday for departure unless otherwise agreed.

Skiing and Snow Boarding Val Thorens is part of the Three Valleys which is the largest ski domain in the world boasting some 600km of varied pistes for beginners and advanced skiers alike.

Summer Val Thorens is also a great summer resort offering a wide range of activities from summer skiing on the glacier, mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing to name a few. There is also a large sports complex with tennis, squash, volley ball, swimming pools and gym and a large soft play area with trampolines for the younger ones. Val Thorens offers quality summer skiing, from July to middle of August. There are 43 itineraries for walks and the 20km of paths are possible on Mountain Bikes. During the summer at least one concert is on offer per week representing Classical, Jazz, Folk etc. Many other activities are available during the summer.

Val Thorens - Mid April - Hot, Sunny and Good Snow

The apartment was exactly as described and just what we (myself and my partner) were after. We loaded the car up and drove for 10 hours from Dunkerque to Val Thorens. For info, tolls cost approx €60 each way. At the resort you must park your car in one of the approved underground car parks (approx €70), otherwise after the first Police warning notice your car will be impounded. The resort is very pleasant, not particularly big, but has a vast array of shops, bars and a few restaurants (recommend the "Chalet Glaciers" apposite the Grotti Yeti).
The appartment is fairly basic, but does contain essential items such as cuttlery, cooking utensils, microwave oven, cooking hobs and also a "slow cooker" for caseroles etc. The Sofa can be converted into 2 single beds and the entrance hall has 2 fold out of the wall single bunk bed style beds, especially ideal for Children. There's a door between the sofa beds and the bunks for any privacy parents may want from there Children. The balcony provides fantastic views of the Mountains and Pistes, along with an overhead view of one of the main pedestrian zoned (only works vehicles permitted usually on week days) high streets. The apartment is on the 4th floor, accessible via 2 lifts which makes it effortless for unloading luggage when arriving by car (you can park outside temporily to unload).
The bathroom is basic and small, but does have a bath and a "mixer tap" shower (fairly powerful) which provided hot water no matter what time of the day for the duration of our stay.
Recommended essentials to take with you:- DVD player + speakers, bedding, alcohol (the resort supermarket is overpriced, fortunately we brought our own of everything from the UK), food (the shops even before the resort were over priced and the meats/poultry were poor quality).
For Ski hire I would recommend using Ski Set and booking online in advance for added savings. We brought our own boots so can't comment on the cost of hire for these, however online you can save up to £50 for a family of 4 on ski hire alone.

Highly recommended at the resort:-
Snow mobiles and also the 5km long Tobogan run - €11/person, a good hour+ of fun no matter how old or young you are. (Children can ride with their parents).

The apartment was clean when we arrived and clean when we left. The owners provided a friendly service with plenty of info prior to our departure. I would certainly rent this apartment again if I were to return to Val Thorens.

Just returned from a week in Val Thorens (February 2009). Apartment is in excellent location and has great views from the balcony. It has everything you need for a week of skiing weather eating out or cooking in the apartment. Would recommend this apartment to others.

Stayed in this apartment for 10 days March 2008, great location walk across the street to slopes, restaurants and shops. Well equiped with kitchen things and bits others had left behind. Would book again.
Skiing is great for all levels.
