Situated on the coast at La Chaume, Les Sables d'Olonne, which enjoys above average sunshine, these quality 2nd floor apartments with adjacent lifts have panoramic views of the sea in this popular very French seaside resort, with fishing port and 1,000 berth Yachting Marina (home of the Vendee Globe). The 3km long golden sandy beach is perfect for safe swimming, sailing and surfing. Enjoy fishing or exploring the rock pools on the coast opposite the apartments where there are small sandy secluded coves in which to sunbathe. Good shops, a supermarket, an open-market and excellent sea food restaurants are all within walking distance. In July and August the main Promenade in front of the sea is closed to traffic in the evening; and filled with entertainers including jazz bands, singing groups, artists and acrobats. Attractions further afield include the historic Loire Valley, vineyards (local and Loire) where you can enjoy wine tasting/purchasing; also Puy de Fou and Futuroscope.

This recently refurbished 2nd floor apartment with tiled floor is tastefully furnished in soft colours in the French style, and provides attractive accommodation for a relaxing family holiday. The large furnished balcony is ideal for enjoying a glass of the local wine whilst you watch the sea and beautiful sunsets. The excellent fully equipped easy kitchen with all you require close at hand, is at one end of the large sitting room.There is a round table with seating for 5 adjacent to the kitchen. The apartment has a permanently running air circulation system (not air-conditioning) that keeps the kitchen, bathroom and toilet fresh. The landscaped garden and heated swimming and children's paddling pool with changing rooms and showers, are available for use by our visitors; there is safety fencing around the pools. Car park space is no.36 inside locked grounds.

There is something magical about Les Sables (Vendee Globe Village opens 18.10.08): those luminous bright sunny days when large numbers of visitors stroll along the Promenade & enjoy the sea-front cafes, bars & restaurants; a multitude of colourful tents on the 3km long golden sandy beach with families & groups enjoying safe swimming, sunbathing and games; bakers with large trays shouting above it all to sell their wares; sailing boats, water-skiers & windsurfers enjoying the large bay & open sea beyond; fishing and small cargo boats entering & leaving the attractive harbour with a quayside lined with bars, & excellent restaurants (mainly sea-food); on days of high winds & rough seas large numbers of surf and body-boarders test their skills against the elements attracting many spectators. When you arrive to check in at our Agents Office, Agence Port Immobilier, La Chaume, Les Sables d'Olonne you will be asked to leave a Security Deposit of £200 by cheque payable to RS and NR Aspinwall. This is normally returned when you hand back the key to our Agents on the day of departure.

Fantastic France

Have just returned from 2 wks in this apartment (180709-010809) and can't wait to go again. The apartment is excellent and extremely well equipped (iron & ironing board, pegs, plenty of hangers, cleaning equipment) a real home from home. This apartment has a lovely view out to sea. La Chaume is charming. The main quai is only a short walk away and there is a supermarket, patesserie etc all in walking distance. We intended to eat out alot but the food was cheap and fresh so we ended up eating in - the fish is superb, as is the beef. We did eat at La Rose des Sables in La Chaume one evening and can thoroughly recommed it. Wine is cheap and very palatable. We visited the zoo in Les Sables and had a day out in Brem sur Mer - spent the morning walking round the market and the afternoon on the beach. Highly recommend a visit to Chateau Talmont especially good for children.Considering this was our first "self catering" holiday and we were a little apprehensive about it I can honestly say it has been one of our best holidays to date - give it a go.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

We fell for the area in a similar way many years ago and take pleasure in sharing the same excitement we felt with others .

A Gem!

We had a fantastic stay in this lovely, well appointed apartment. The apartment is in excellent order, very clean and well looked after, with a lovely large balcony overlooking the sea, and the wonderful muddle of Mediteranean style terracotta rooftops nearby. The property's agent, Eric, was exceptionally helpful, and turned up very quickly 'out of hours' with a key for my husband.
The beach just over the road provided hours of fun for our small boys, the rock pools are teeming with interesting creatures!
Within a few minutes walk there are shops, pharmacy's and lots of restaurants - most of which I can personally recommend!
Les Sables D'Olonne has an amazing long beach, and is a magnet for water sports enthusiasts. There are countless cafe's along the sea front, an ideal place to sit and watch the surf.The small cobbled streets are lined with an array of shops. We visited in October and November (for the start of the Vendee Globe Race) it was still T-shirt weather, very warm and sunny. Les Sables D'Olonne is one of France's gems!
Would we recommend this property to a friend - without a doubt! It is by far the best self catering apartment we have stayed in - it was such a pleasant surprise when we opened the front door.
I'm looking forward to my next visit already!

Heaven is a place on earth

Have just returned from a fantastic week in La Chaume (Les Sables d’Olonne) and can’t wait to go again !
First visit to the Vendee and I only wish we had found it sooner.

The apartment was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and the large balcony provided a wonderful sun-trap for sunbathing and watching the boats go by. The gardens are well maintained and the pool area is also of an extremely high standard, with the water heated enough to satisfy the faint-hearted. Security is excellent and the provision of underground garage parking was a real bonus.

Excellent access within the apartment complex for those who may have mobility problems and this extended throughout the town so if you “don’t do stairs” have no fear.

La Chaume provided a wonderful base for exploring the local area although there is everything you might need within reasonable walking distance if you don’t want to wander too far afield. Despite the fact that we were at the very end of “the season” there was still a lot of activity and plenty of choice when it came to finding places to eat etc. I imagine during the summer months it is fairly hectic but as the apartments are located slightly away from the centre of the town there is no danger of being bothered by rowdy crowds.

If you are looking for a lovely, relaxing break look no further than this. We shall certainly be going again and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Just hope it doesn’t become so popular that we can’t get in next time !!!

A big thank you to the property owners too – they were extremely helpful throughout the booking process and provided heaps of useful information on all sorts of subjects to make sure our holiday was a success.

A bed with a view

We rented this apartment earlier this year and had a very pleasant stay. The apartment is bright, modern & very well equipped. The views from both rooms were stunning and it was delightful to wake up to the sight & sound of the sea. Although early in the season, we were able to eat out on the spacious balcony.
We were late arriving but the agent waited for us and was most helpful. Both security & parking are excellent.
We ate in la Chaume & took the water taxi to dine in Les Sable. We really should have bought a weekly ticket as we crossed the river very regularly. La Chaume was particularly exciting as a regatta was taking place.
We shopped both locally & at the hypermarket. All in all we had a very pleasant week.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway
