Set on the hillside of Les Contamines with stunning views over Mont Jolie, the village and ski area, the chalet is furnished in a luxurious, contemporary style. This light, spacious chalet is only 10 minutes walk from the village centre but is in a peaceful setting. With emphasis on relaxation, the chalet boasts extremely comfortable beds and sofas, and a plentiful supply of hot water for the bath and powerful showers. It was built in 2003 and has been completed to a high specification and furnished with good quality equipment; there are 2 large TV/DVDs (with DVDs available), dishwasher, oven, microwave, washing machine and separate dryer.

Described by Reuters 'Where to Ski' as a charming, unspoiled French village with reliable snow', Les Contamines is only 1 1/4 hours from Geneva airport. It is a beautiful family orientated resort with an lots of restaurants, shops and bars but it still keeps its village atmosphere.

The ski area boasts magnificent views over Mont Blanc. It has a maximum height of 2457m, 26 lifts and 120km of pistes catering for all abilities - a lot of wide blues and reds but also a substantial and varied off-piste terrain and snow park. There are nursery slopes both in the village and up at the 2 main stations. There is ample parking, 2 speedy telecabines to get you up to the stations and lots of excellent mountain restaurants.

There is plenty to do in the summer - a fabulous leisure park (tennis, boating lake, rock-climbing, aerial routes through the trees), swimming in St Gervais, mountain biking and a wide variety of beautiful walks in the nature reserve adjacent to the chalet.

Notes: We supply linen and towels as part of the rental price. All the bedding and equipment is new and of good quality. The chalet has two large TV/DVD and videos. A selection of DVDs, videos are available or you can bring your own. The heating is particularly quick and easily controllable, and there is plentiful hot water. There are games, puzzles and toys in the chalet and we supply a travel cot and highchair.

Skiing: Les Contamines offers uncrowded, snow-sure pistes from January to mid-April. There is 120km of pistes, 31 ski lifts, 2 snow parks, 3 nursery slopes and fabulous off-piste terrain - it really does cater for all abilities. There is an excellent ski school with English speaking instructors and a wonderful nursery for 1 to 7 year-olds. If you are feeling in need of even more variety then the challenging runs of Chamonix are only 40 minutes away and, closer still, Megeve is accessed via St Gervais telecabine which is just 15 minutes drive from the chalet.

Summer Activities: Les Contamines is an excellent base for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing. It is on the famous GR5 Mont Blanc Circuit walk and in addition there are over 120km of well sign-posted local walks for all abilities. The Pontet leisure park has a small lake with pedaloes, mini-golf, championship tennis courts and coaching, golf driving range, rock-climbing, kids' playground, archery and a fabulous aerial walk/runway through the trees. You can also hire donkeys to carry packs/children on walks - highly recommended by our three children! In high season the telecabines run up to a lovely restaurant adjacent to a lake and 2 kids' parks - a great starting point for walks or bike rides (mountain-bikes and guides can be hired in the village). In the neighbouring town of St Gervais there is a nice outdoor heated swimming pool. 25 minutes away in Megeve there is indoor ice skating, swimming pool and slides and a wonderful downhill luge.

Best Ski Holiday Ever

This chalet was perfect for our group of 3 families (6 adults and 5 children aged 7 to 11). Very comfortable, plenty of space, well furnished. The local agent was especially helpful and nothing was too much trouble - she was a credit to the owner. The views from the chalet are fab and it was lovely and quiet at night. Would recommend a car for getting to lifts and into town.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
