LABENNE is an ideal location for a family beach & activity holiday; it offers many amenities and the local beach is sandy and close to the house so that it takes only a few minutes to return home for lunch, or even to collect a new book. Bathing is supervised by lifeguards during the main season and there is also an inland Aqua Park with huge water slides and fresh-water pools with lots of fun activities for adults and children alike. The resort offers a range of other activities such as, clock golf, tennis, tree-top exploration, horse riding, cycling, trekking &and roller blading, as well as surfing, beach sports and swimming in the breakers. Evening amenities include a choice of many French & Spanish restaurants, bars and bistro cafes as well as beach BBQ’s and disco dancing for the young at heart. The river Boudigau runs through Labenne and is a haven for interesting birdlife - the riverside walk is enchanting by day or in the evening.

Notes to the rental rates

• Lettings generally begin and end on Saturdays and the prices listed apply irrespective of the number of persons occupying the house up to a maximum of six. In addition a damage bond (10% of the total rental charge) is required but, subject to any necessary deductions for damage or breakages this will be returned promptly at the end of the holiday period. Prices include normal consumption of electricity and water but bed linen, towels and tea towels are not provided within the basic price - although they can be provided as a separate service if required (this is a new facility available from May 2006 - price on request).

Atlantic Beach

The Aquitaine coastline is a 100 mile stretch of soft golden sand from Bordeaux to the Spanish border and there are championship-standard surfing beaches at the neighbouring resorts of Hossegor and Seignosse. When the tide is turning, the breakers at Labenne are magnificent (for those who are confident in water). The beach is watched over by lifeguards throughout the summer and a green flag indicates that it is safe even for the tiniest tots to play safely in the shallows (as long as they are supervised by an adult). The beach is rated as 'Pavilion Bleu de Europe' and is cleaned every day of high season.

Walking, Cycling & Golf

For the more leisurely inclined, there are many forest footpaths around Labenne, whilst for those who seek a slightly faster pace bicycles may be hired locally. The 'Landes' region supports a high standard of golf and there are many excellent courses within a few miles. There is also a prestigious tennis club in Labenne where courts may be hired by the hour. Also, on the outskirts of the town, a riding stable offers lessons or 'hacks' depending on your standard. Finally the local game - pelotte is well worth watching especially at Grand Chistera standard.
