Traditionally built, modern savoyard chalet located, set back, at end of a quiet street 10 minutes walk from the centre of St Gervais (perfect for the morning coissant run!). Large sunny enclosed garden with view out towards the Aravis chain of mountains and Mt d'Arbois which accesses the St Gervais/Megeve ski area. The chalet is furnished to a high standard with a traditional fireplace, electric and underfloor heating and modern fitted appliances alongside a handcrafted kitchen. Child friendly with safety gates/high chair/travel cot etc provided on request, it is an ideal location for families. 5 minutes walk from the Tramway Mt Blanc station in St Gervais the chalet offers access to Mt Blanc and forest walks, climbing, mountain biking and freshwater lakes/local open air pool for swimming in the summer and a wide variety of easily accessible skiing in the winter.

The chalet is set back from the road in a large, private, sunny garden with ample parking beside the chalet and a garage. It's a 10 minute walk down into the centre of St Gervais. There are fantastic views across the valley from the garden and the balcony at the front of the house. Up above the chalet you can directly access forest with trails for walks and summer picnics. Below the chalet (5 minutes) is the Tramway Mont Blanc from where you can access the Les Houches ski area and the start of walks up Mt Blanc in the summer season. The ski bus can also be taken from here directly to the ski lift for access to Mt d'Arbois and the St Gervais/Megeve ski areas.

Notes: There is an additional office/playroom area with a twin bedded mezzanine over. This space can be used as additional living/play space for families and is furnished as such but is more basic than the main part of the chalet. One of the double/twin bedrooms is situated on the ground floor next to the separate WC and bath with shower. There is good access to the chalet through the front gates and doors and we expect that it would, therefore, be suitable for wheelchair access or for someone who did not want to climb stairs. Baby sitting services can be booked on request. Local creche and child minding facilities available. Garden games (goal/football set, badminton rackets etc) and various toys (aged approx. 1-5 yrs) available to amuse children! Set of golf clubs available to amuse adults. UK TV channels in office/playroom and separate TV/DVD player. Selection of board games, Dvds and books for all.

Golf: There are championship courses at Megève, only 15min (11km) by car from St. Gervais and also at Chamonix about 30 mins (24km) away. Mini-golf is also available at St. Gervais. A set of golf clubs are available at the chalet for guests use if required and additional sets can be hired a the golf courses.

Mountaineering/Walking: From the resort, mountaineers can follow the famous 'Voie Royale' to Mont Blanc, conquered in 1855 by an Englishman named Hudson. Start with an excursion on the Mont Blanc Tramway, 5 minutes walk from the chalet, before walking towards the Tête Rousse mountain refuge and a stop over near the 'Aiguille de Goûter'. Climb the 'Dôme du Goûter' towards the Vallot mountain refuge and the final ridge to the summit at 4810 metres. It is advisable to hire one of the experienced professional mountain guides, who have offices at St. Gervais. Views from the top of the tram ride, which takes 45 minutes, are fantastic.

Fantastic Ski Chalet

We stayed here during Feb half term for a ski holiday. 3 Families (6 Adults, 4 Children) The chalet does sleep 10 comfortably in 5 bedrooms, unlike most who try to cram 10 into a 4 bed chalet! It is extremely well equiped and very warm. We would recommend having a car, otherwise you will need to use buses to get to the ski lifts. The parking is free at the lifts so no problem there. We left all our ski kit up at St Bettex in a locker, much less stressful than trying to drag it all back to the chalet. The town is very nice but you need the car to do the shopping as well.
Overall a fantastic chalet for skiing or walking or just being in the mountains.
Owner's Response: Just a note that there are shops, banks, restaurants, bars and 3 supermarkets in the town which is walking distance away. A car is, however, needed if you want to visit the big superstores which are down in the valley from the resort (as is usual in a mountain resort) for a big shop. All the usual necessities for a week in the chalet should be available from the 3 supermarkets in town.

The chalet is ideal for a family of up 8 adults and 2 small children. The quality of crockery, ( denbigh ), and kitchen ware ( le crueset ), were all a welcome addition. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was of good quality. The views were superb, and the garden area was ideal for the sunny moments. It was warm and comfortable, however two small sofas was not sufficient for more than 6 adults wanting to sit together. The dining table seated 8 easily, and the mezzanine was a welcome suprise for a young couple wanting independence. The selection of DVD's and books were appreciated. The 15 minute walk into the village was a pleasure, and return from the pattiserie was eagerly awaited. The log fire was a real treat, although buying logs was difficult at first until the locals were happy to exchange for a few euros. Amiable help was available if needed. We would certainly use the chalet again, and recommend it to other people.
Owner's Response: Sitting room now has 2 x three seater sofas plus the chalet has a collection of additional seating (bean bags, spare chairs etc) to allow as much flexibility as possible depending on party size. Logs are usually available from the "Casino" supermarket at roundabout in village on the way to ski lifts. Ask in shop if not obvious. Otherwise, in the valley, next to Intermarche, M. Bricolage has a good selection. Failing that, let us know and we can get you a few for a small charge!
