Photos and Description of this St Lager Bressac holiday cottage Two spacious stone cottages with private gardens and pool in 3 acres of grounds.

In the northern edge of Provence is Le Mas du Chene a charmingly restored stonebuilt silk farm in 3 acres of grounds, set in a tranquil location with fruit orchard, olive trees and impressive views into the Ardeche Mountains. The sunny swimming pool, 11 x 5m, has wide terraces, sun loungers and a large wooden sundeck; a solar-heated pool shower, barbecue and summer kitchen. Table tennis and outdoor games are available as well as large grassy areas for ball games. Self contained cottage for rent; has its own private garden and barbecue. Furnished and equipped to a high standard providing comfortable airy accommodation. The Southern French climate makes Ardeche suitable for holidays from early spring to late autumn – with all the benefits of Provence without the crowds. This part of Ardeche offers many circular walks and dazzling cycle rides. You can go on wine trips, canoe down the rivers, go climbing, walk the treetops or simply relax by the pool.

Details for L'Atelier and La Secherie cottages 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4, 1 Bathroom

We have 2 cottages for rent either together or individually, both newly renovated in sympathy with the period features of the building. Both cottages provide comfortable accommodation with well furnished, spacious sitting/dining rooms; high beamed ceilings and French doors leading to each terrace. L'Atelier has the added advantage of a large covered terrace overlooking the pool; this outside room is ideal for dining and relaxation. The kitchen in L'Atelier is slightly larger with a small dining area. The spacious garden and large terrace of La Secherie look out into the hills. The small but well equipped kitchen in La Secherie was converted from the old wine cellar. The bedrooms are upstairs in this cottage and you reach the large master bedroom through the small 2nd bedroom. Both cottages offer privacy and neither garden is overlooked, however there is an option to open up a gate between the gardens should both cottages be rented by the same party.

LE MAS DU CHENE july 2009

Review Submitted: August 17, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We had a wonderful stay in the Atelier gite. This gite has a big beautiful terrace under roof. This is certainly a big advantage if travelling in summer, we enjoyed it from breakfast until diner ! The gite is well-maintained and much bigger in reality than the pictures on internet show. So we were very pleasantly surprised ; also the country around and the way to the house is a very nice experience !
A calm area, very nice well maintained swimming pool and relaxing chairs around the pool. Also on the private terrace and in the house there are very pleasant relaxing corners with plenty of caoches and chairs. Price - quality is excellent and certainly we can recommend this gite !
Owner's Response: Many thanks for your recommendation. It was a pleasure meeting you all, hopefully we may be able to tempt you back at some point in the future.

Very relaxing

Review Submitted: September 14, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We stayed in L'Atelier which is a wonderful property in a stunning location. Our children aged 8 and 10 made full use of the pool which enabled us to take time out whilst being able to watch them. The views from the windows and pool terrace are just lovely. The covered terrace is where we ate every meal. A great outdoor living area.
Inside is simply furnished but has everything we needed. Also a good range of cleaning equipment was provided for the dreaded but necessary end of week cleaning session which made the chore a bit less of a drag! We found the property to be spotless and were quite happy to leave it that way.
The staircase to the loft where the twin beds are did make me a little nervous as the single run of open, painted treads to a tiled floor requires caution to descend. Not something my two have in abundance, but we managed without incident.
The owners are very friendly and helpful without ever imposing.
This is a great place to come for a relaxing break away from it all. Not much around in the immediate vicinity but plenty to do and see if you venture only a little further afield. A car or bike is essential.
We particularly enjoyed exploring the deserted medieval villages perched ontop of seemingly every hill. Montellimar is a real gem, only about 20 mins away and a great mix of very old (castle on top of hill and old winy streets) and very modern (art museum and scented garden). Further afield is the Ardeche Gorge which many of the previous visitors had enjoyed enormously as indicated in the visitor book.
We would recommend this to most people but perhaps not with families with very young children unless a stair gate could be fixed to the top of the stairs.

Holiday at Le Mas du Chene; July 2009

Emma Catherine Vermont, USA
Review Submitted: September 12, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time staying at Le Mas du Chene for 2 weeks in July. The cottage was beautiful, clean and well maintained, it had all the amenities we needed and more! The garden and pool area were delightful, providing a nice and quiet sanctuary to relax and unwind in.

John and Ulrika, the owners, were more than helpful and thier knowledge of the area's attractions was greatly appreciated. Their recommendations of nearby restaurants, walking paths and shops were invaluable to our time there.

I would highly recommend staying at Le Mas du Chene for a peaceful and scenic holiday. We are already planning our second visit!

Lovely tranquil location, great pool and surrounding area, exceptionally well kept gite, welcoming and helpful hosts. Had a wonderful stay visiting the gorges and canoeing, plentiful supply of fresh figs from fig tree in garden and was able to keep the gite cool in the very hot August weather.
