La Garenne offers guests a year round base for visiting The Charente Maritime. It is situated 5 min. drive from the charming market town of Aulnay in the small hamlet of Ferrieres and is surrounded by open countryside and sunflower fields.There are plenty of opportunity for picnics, walks and bike rides in the beautiful forest of Aulnay just 1 km away. 5 gites are part of the 18th C Longere, wilst the sixth gite nestles beside the Templar house. All of the gites have views across the enclosed garden, swimming pools and play area, so it is easy to relax while the children play safely. All the gites have private outdoor space, some with front and rear gardens with beautiful views across countryside. A short walk through the sunflower fields takes you to our local vineyard where you can taste good cheap wine. There are plenty of local attractions such as weekly markets, horse riding, swimming lakes, nature zoo, river swimming with canooing, historical buildings and lots more.

Newly converted end of barn building with two bedrooms one ensuite. From your private outdoor area double french doors leads you into a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area, with beautiful oak beams and exposed charentaise stonewalls. From here another set of double french doors leads you to another very private outdoor area overlooking open farm land. A beautiful round wall has been maintained with small windows and other features. A charming spindle staircase takes you to the upstairs bedrooms and small mezzanine. From the mezzanine you enter a large double bedroom with large window seat and beautiful views, oak beams and stone walls. From here you access a large high quality shower room. The 2nd bedroom has bunk beds and views. This gite has been made to a high standard with leather furniture, fully quality equipped kitchen, but still retaining the charming french character such as exposed beams and beautiful stone walls throughout.

La Garenne is situated in a small but very charming hamlet with traditional french farmhouses. It has a rural feel yet only 5 min drive to the closest Village.The Forest of Aulnay is only 5 minutes away by bike and offer wonderful walks, runs and biking routes, as well as great playing opportunities for the children. La Garenne is located 70 km east of the beautiful city of La Rochelle, which has the most wonderful harbour full of charming seafood restaurants and cafes. The shopping is very good and so is the famous aquarium for the children. St jean D'angely is 17 km south and a further 30 km south is cognac and Saintes. The location offer many golf courses within 30 - 45 minutes drive. There is a large variety of beaches offering plenty of watersport activities within 1 hr drive.

How about being able to go out for a few hours on your own and relax, knowing the kids are safe and happily occupied with various activities. La Garenne offer this unique service 1 afternoon a week. BBQ evening: Once a week we put up a long table in the garden turn the BBQ on, open the wine and you just relax. A good way to get to know us and the other guests, while the children have fun together. This activity is totally optional. Kitesurfing instruction.: The owner is fully qualified in this new and very exciting sport. All the equipment are new and always updated with the new technology this sport involves. This activity should be booked when placing a holiday booking. Maximum of 4 people. Please ask for details.

We have had a great holiday at La Garenne. The children loved it and don't want to go home. You have all the right ingredients for a very relaxing holiday- lots of things for the children to do safely on their own, making us parents feel relaxed and happy. All the best and we will return back soon.
Great holiday. The kids enjoyed the freedom that came with the location, the company and generosity of Oliver and Oscar.

We have had a great week, our kids loved the place and we wish we had stayed for 2 weeks.
The Sunday BBQ is a great idea as is the kids club. Richard, Dorte , Oliver and Oscar have created a fantastic family destination and we look forward to returning soon.
Thank you so much for an awesome time, I had so much fun playing with everyone and the swimming pool was just great. Hope to see you all soon. I will Miss you.

Fabulous Relaxing Family Holiday

Cannot recommend this property highly enough. Lovely barn conversions renovated to the very highest quality. La Garenne is great for young families, a safe environement for children to play, with kids club once a week and to save cooking there are even hot evening meals delivered on request.

Dorte, Richard, Oliver & Oscar make everyone feel extremely welcome. The welcome BBQ is a must.

We have been 2 summers in a row and are booked again for next year
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Young Children
