Les Matise is set in the beautiful area of Royan, within 15 minutes from the award winning beaches of St George and St Palais. New 12mtr x 6mtr swimming pool for summer 2004. We have 5 gites on the complex, includes 2/3 bedrooms, 2 bath/shower rooms and is fully furnished and equipped with fully fitted kitchen, washing machine, fridge freezer etc. Colour tv/video, CD/radio, private garden with garden furniture and BBQ. Private parking, all areas wheelchair friendly. Newly renovated to a high standard. English speaking owners on site. Close to village shops, set in an area where there is something for everyone. Plenty to keep the children occupied, also for adults there is golf, fishing, walking routes, cycle routes, wind surfing, sky diving at our small aerodrome, shopping, many fantastic restaurants, a boules court on site. Les Matise is situated within walking distance of Medis, with its 16th century church. Set in a rural area for good walks, cycling and fishing etc. 5 minutes to Saujon, a bustling market town with a selection of restaurants, markets selling local produce, cafes, supermarkets and banks. The area is suitable for many types of holiday and will suit all tastes. Within 15 minutes to Royan, an upmarket town with a beautiful beach and harbour, restaurants to suit all tastes, St George with its beautiful beaches, promenade, market town and fish restaurants. Just 20 minuites to Saintes, an ancient city with roman monuments, boutiques, restaurants and bars and La Rochelle famous for its old port, large aquarium, casino, boutiques and restaurants. Our local airport is here which serves Ryan Air and Air France from the UK and is approx 45 minutes drive. Check out flights from Manchester to Bordeaux with BMI baby, prices are really low

Notes: Les Matise is set in a country setting within 15 minutes easy reach of towns and beaches. A fantastic pool has been constructed for 2004 complying with this years French safety standards with lockable gate. A new boules court, full sized pool table and table tennis facility along with a children play area made for a relaxing, safe, fun filled holiday for all. House hunters welcome for long lets during the winter months - please enquire for special prices.

Description of layout wrong, only 5 beds provided for 6 people. No professional cleaning between clients - you do the cleaning for the next people or pay huge sums for it. Rules abound, extra charges for everything. Nice looking barn conversion but done on the cheap so things like showers don't work properly and the noise between rooms gives no privacy. Details said english speaking owner present - but they are not, and caretaker does not speak english. Won't go there again and won't recommend. Of our many french gite holidays this was absolutely the worst experience.

Family holiday in a peaceful location.

On arrival we were greeted with an enormous welcome pack with everything we could wish for, including wine, fresh fruit, bread, butter, cheese, tea coffee, biscuits etc., etc.
The gite was spotless and had all the equipment necessary for a happy stay. There were even many toys and games for the children.

We would highly recommend this Gite for a peaceful, get away from it all, holiday.

Booked a gite with them. First problem- owner very slow in replying e-mails. Unless threaten to cancel contract does not respond to emails. At one stage we were thinking whether this place exists. Overpriced place at least in summer. Bedroom has no windows though power shower in the bathrooms. Pool was quite nice. No oven in the gite. Had a mouse in the kithen- owners not bothered, bought rat poison to kill it. Surrounding places are nice. Nearest beaches like Royan and St George are beautiful. Many nice to places to visit around the area. Car is a must. Had good time with 2 girls of 8 years. Food, beach and temperature was perfect.Recommended for family with children and teenagers. Last day tried to deduct deposit for leaving some dust under the bed and not taking the covers of the bed. Overall nice surrounding places but gite not recommended for the hassles involved.
