The cottage, which has been in our family for generations, has been lovingly renovated to provide quality accommodation, with traditional stones and exposed beams. It is tastefully decorated and well furnished throughout and comfortably accommodates 2 adults, 2 children and a baby. The cottage has a private pool and lawn for your exclusive use. The property is entirely enclosed and the swimming pool is fenced for your children's safety.
Details for the cottage in France
The accommodation is in a cottage, completely independent from the adjoining farmhouse at its rear. La Grange comfortably accommodates 2 adults 2 children and a baby. The cottage was converted from a barn and completed in 2001, leaving traditional stone walls and exposed beams where possible. Tastefully decorated and well furnished throughout. Both bedrooms and the living area have a view of the swimming pool. The pool is for the exclusive use of the cottage. The ground floor consists of a large open plan living/dining area with a newly fitted kitchen, a double bedroom (with a king size bed), bathroom and toilet. An open tread staircase leads to the mezzanine floor and a second large bedroom with two single beds. The low ceilings of the mezzanine make an original bedroom perfect for children.

A clean and welll equipped cottage. Set in a hamlet of 4 houses and a working farm.Lovely country side with lots of easy walks nearby.
The couple who operate house on behalf of their child are very friendly and informative .
They don't speak English , so you will need to try ! It was not a problem for me as I studied French at University, but could be a problem for others. Useful instruction manual in English inside the house .
Draw back- the house is very small. It is really only suitable for a couple with very small children. Comfortable seating for 2 only in the lounge area.
Main town Saintes has good super markets. This is a 40 minutes drive from the house. There is a small Coop in the nearby village, again about 20 mins away.
A good place for a relaxing break, away from it all.
Nice , clean pool .Plenty of garden chairs.
Plenty to see and do nearby, ruins, seaside, Cognac distilleries etc.
I would go again to the area, have been many times before, but would choose a larger house next time.
Owner's response:
The local coop is situated in Brizambourg, less than 3 km from the cottage - a four minute drive. The driving distance time from the cottage in Bercloux to the centre of Saintes is 22 minutes. My in-laws who are on site do speak only limited English. In seven years of renting the cottage this has yet to prove to a problem. Trying your French is to my mind an enjoyable and integral part of a French holiday. If English is needed I am available on my mobile. I'm sorry and surprised that our guest felt the house too small - the cottage is in fact larger than a lot of similar properties in the area sleeping the same number. As mentioned in the advert the second bedroom is a mezzanine room with low ceilings - best suited for children.
