Photos and Description of this Royan area holiday cottage 2 Bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps up to 6 persons.

Ancient stone cottage, fully equipped with all modern conveniences and beamed throughout. Fire places in both main rooms, furnished with antique furniture. Its floor space is 100 m². The property benefits of landscaped gardens including woodland, a secured swimming-pool and a tennis court. The house is particularly pleasant in May-June when the garden is beautifully flowered. They are our favorite periods to benefit of the beaches, walks and cycling tracks. September is normally a warm month; we call it 'l'été indien'. Swimming pool + Tennis court (rackets provided if you want), both shared with the owners - Bikes and golf equipment for the use of and English TV. And if this can help you, we speak French (Fabienne is French) / English (John is English) / Italian (Fabienne lived in Italy for fourteen years / and some Spanish .

The house is situated in a small hamlet 'le clouzit' part of the village of MEDIS. It is close to all amenities (baker, butcher shop, general grocery store, bar-tabac, chemist and medical center, post-office). It is situated 4km from the beautiful sandy beaches of ROYAN, 20km from the historical town of SAINTES. Lovely long quiet and safe cycling tracks in the forests along the beaches. Sailing, surfing, golfing and horse ridding, all in easy reach from the cottage.

Our week stay offered us just what we wanted – a beautiful and very spacious house, a large swimming pool all set in a beautiful huge garden, the tennis court for our children and so much landscape for them to play.

The furnishings were of a high quality and it was always tempting to stay and settle down for the day at “home”.
Fabienne and John were very welcoming hosts with some nice touches such as the privilege to use the products of their vegetable garden or to pick any fruit from their fruit trees (as plums, peers, peaches, figs, apples…), privilege of being offered home made tarts.

When we did venture out we found it a short journey to the coast with a particular delight being Talmont and Mornac sur Seudre. There is also the opportunity to taste some of the local produce – Charantais pineau and brandy.
Surfers can also hone their skills on the Cote Sauvage.
All in all it was wonderful holiday.

Siamo di Milano, doppo un lungo viaggio abbiamo trovato une luogo magnifico !!! Una casa con biancheria tutta ricamata a mano... stupendo ! Mobili antichi, siamo stati fascinati...!
Piscina, tennis, boschi, un giardino infiorato, verdura del giardino da raccogliere. La casa dei padroni vicini, discreta, nascosta nella vegetazione. Torte di frutta discretamente trovate sul tavolo del giardino.
Abbiamo passato una settimana eccezionale, calda, in un luogo incantevole !!

Lovely week in great weather

Whilst we enjoyed a lovely break at this gite, we did not realise that the pool and surrounds were shared. Although Fabienne and John were delightful and so considerate, we did feel that the advertisement should indicate that the grounds and pool are shared with the owners. We do prefer complete privacy on holiday and are prepared to pay for this privilege, so were surprised to discover this on arrival.
The location of the gite is perfect for enjoying the beach at St Palais which the owners kindly recommended. It was a real treat to enjoy fruit from trees in the garden, as well as gifts from the owners` veggie garden. Lovely evenings enjoyed in the garden, with the sound of water sprinklers and little else!!

Fabienne and John are the perfect hosts, making you feel so welcome and like old friends whilst still respecting your privacy. The accommodation was more than we expected with beautiful hand embroidered linens, traditional furnishings with home comforts. The pool, tennis courts, table tennis and bikes were a huge plus and kept our 12 and 16 year olds occupied perfectly.... phew! The local supermarket is close-by.... left and the sun flowers then right at the sun flowers...! a fabulous, truly French escape.

Beautiful cottage in lovely surroundings

In June 2007, our family stayed in this delightful cottage. The children really enjoyed themselves, exploring the large garden, playing tennis, table tennis, swimming and we enjoyed all of the above plus the owners hospitality. John and Fabienne could not have been more helpful or friendly. We left this cottage having gained two friends and not forgetting Boogie the dog. We left it too late to rebook for 2008 but hopefully we will come back in 2009.

This property is very near to Royan and indeed it is a great base no matter what kind of holiday you are looking for. We went to Bordeaux, Cognac, St. Emillion, La Rochelle - all roughly an hour or so away. The local beaches are fantastic.
