Photos and Description of this Jonzac area holiday cottage Well equipped gite with all you need for a fantastic holiday.

Surrounded by vines and sunflowers the gite is set in rural but not isolated surroundings. Its is typically French with terracotta floors, exposed beams and stone walls but comes well equipped with all mod cons. There is plenty of outside space including private parking & a covered area for eating out. There is a good sized splash pool and barbecue. Plenty of sun beds & a full sized table tennis table. Situated just 10 mins from Jonzac with a medieval chateau, a tropical swimming centre, a casino and plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants and supermarkets. Just over half an hours drive brings you to the fantastic Atlantic beaches with clean waters and superb sands. Sample the local seafood in the huge array of bars & restaurants. Plenty of water sports and beach clubs for the children are located here also. We have a good selection of bikes available for a small hire fee - the roads around are relatively flat and very quiet for cycling. Woods adjacent to the gite provide good walks.

Nearest Train: Jonzac at 4 Miles
Nearest Motorway: A10 Jct 37 at 4 Miles
Car: necessary
The gite is situated a short drive from many places/towns of interest. Cognac is only half an hour away - visit the famous distilleries and sample their wares. Saintes also within half an hour, has a fantastic roman amphitheatre, take a riverboat trip or visit the many shops. La Rochelle and Bordeaux are just over an hour away, both worth a visit for their architecture, galleries and shops. For the children: La Palmyre Zoo is one of the best in Europe and is on the coast. Chateau des Enigmes (15 min drive) - a treasure hunt set in a beautiful chateau with a pirate theme. A bit further afield is Futuruscope, a theme park with spectacular shows. Visit the masses of vineyards in the area which welcome visitors and allow them to sample and buy their produce. Many tours are conducted in English. There are also weekly markets in the area selling anything from rabbits and chickens to local wine and honey.

  • The bathroom is light and spacious and contains a large shower. There are cupboards and drawers in here also. There is also a washing machine with clothes horse. The toilet is separate from the bathroom.

Towels are not included, however if you are flying here and have weight restriction allowance please contact us and we will provide towels at no extra charge.

Notes: The downstairs has wide opening double doors and would therefore be wheelchair accessible, however the upstairs would present a problem. A well-behaved family pet will be welcome at no extra charge. The gite is well equipped for 6 people and any further information can be requested by contacting the owners. There is a new above ground swimming pool which is great for just cooling off or for swimming. Guests have exclusive use of this and there is room to sunbathe around it or just keep an eye on the children.

New Pool added.: This year we have added a new above ground swimming pool. This is perfect for cooling down or splashing about but is big enough to swim in also.

Vineyard trips: There are many vineyards in our area and most of them do guided tours where you can learn how they go from grape to bottle. Samplings are encouraged and we can arrange a tour for guests at no extra charge.

We had a good holiday. The gite was clean,comfortable and had everything we needed.The location was quiet and relaxing.Would recommend to friends.
