Relax:
Poitou-Charentes is one of the sunniest regions of France. Melons, sun flowers and of course grapes clothe most fields around us at Les Chevilloux. Leave the stress at work and let the warmth and tranquility refresh you. All our visitors comment that they eat and sleep better here and have enjoyed being able to relax completely. We have maps of local walks, and use of the excellent village tennis courts is included in the rental.
In the garden we have a net for badminton or soft ball, 'Boules', and in the barn there is a tennis table for having fun with ping pong. We also have 4 bicycles for you explore the surrounding country lanes and forest. The village tennis courts are available for your use at no cost and just 30 minutes away are the riding stables where you can hack-out and explore the local country side 'from the best view in the world'. At Mansle you can hire a canoe and paddle the lazy Charente river where dragonflies and herons will entertain you.
Agris and around :
Our little village of Agris is a 2 minute walk down the lane. A Prehistoric treasure, the golden helmet belonging to a Gallic chieftain was unearthed near the village a few years ago, and the whole area is peppered with limestone caves and grottoes. La Rochefoucauld and Angoulême both have excellent restaurants from all corners of the globe. Angoulême is home of the famous classic car race 'Circuit des Remparts' where Fangio made his name. It is held on the second weekend of September and is a must for all those who delight in the names Bentley, MG, Jaguar, Morgan, Lagonda and many other British classics. The weekend ends on the Sunday with the classic race around the ramparts to sound of Bugattis and others and the perfume of racing Castrol! We have secure parking, garaging and tools for guests with classic cars. The delights of prehistoric Dordogne, the beaches of Royan and La Rochelle, and the cellars and distilleries of Bordeaux and Cognac are all within easy reach.
