Domaine de Villechaise is in the hamlet named after it - Villechaise - on the D59 just 3km south of Confolens in the Charente region. It is convenient for the shops and restaurants of Confolens and within easy reach of the famous cities of Poitiers, Limoges and Angouleme.
The Charente is an unspoilt and uncrowded region, criss-crossed by the wide clear waters of the Charente and Vienne rivers. There are rolling hills with pastures dotted with woodland - ideal terrain for rambling, following history-studded paths and deserted river banks. The wildlife is abundant - nightingales sing with nightjars in the evenings, red squirrels run across lawns, and buzzards fly overhead.
There are plenty of sites to see and activities in the area - for both adults and children alike - including adventure parks, zoos, white water canoeing, museums, and the famous Confolens music festival in August.
