Large cottage in Beautiful Gardens in Secluded Location

Our newly renovated Gite offers flexible accommodation, on 2 floors, which is ideal for 2 families. Downstairs, there are 2 bedrooms, 1 double, 1 twin and a bathroom. Upstairs, there is 1 large double bedroom and an adjoining smaller bedroom which can sleep 2 (twin). This area has a fabulous walk in wet room shower and WC (ensuite). The downstairs kitchen is very well fitted with hob, oven, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. It is a dining kitchen with beautiful French doors which open into the garden/outdoor living space. There is a large sitting room, with TV (French) and DVD player. Along with a selection of DVD's there is a selection of books and games for both children and adults, too. There is also a wood burning stove. Outside, there is a BBQ and seating for outdoor eating and some loungers for relaxing in the sun. This lovely house enables you to enjoy the beauty of French country living with the total comfort of modern living.

Jurignac is a quiet little village, surrounded by vineyards, which has a boulangerie, a small grocers, a post office a butchers shop and it's very own Cognac house, where you can sample and buy the village's own label cognac. However, as the RN 10 runs close by, about 1 km, this allows you to travel to other parts of the area and see many of the other beautiful villages and towns close by. Angouleme, a large town with a wonderful 'old town' full of busy restaurants and shopping , is just 20 minutes drive away. It also boasts a fabulous water park, Nautilus, which has both indoor and outdoor pools. The smaller towns of Chateauneuf and Barbezieux, again both with open air swimming pools for daytime fun and a good selection of restaurants and bars for the evening. The summer temperatures are usually very warm, and the River Charente is close by (less than 10 minutes) and there you can swim if you wish or enjoy a drink at the riverside bars and restaurants.

    A welcome pack of some basics to start you off (milk, bread eggs fruit and some wine!).

Having both bathrooms in the property makes this perfect for two families as it offers excellent privacy and convenience.

  • The downstairs double is fresh and bright and has a excellent hanging space and a roomy chest of drawers. 2 bedside tables with lamps make it comfortable for nightime. The large windows overlook the garden area. The twin room, just next door is bright and also has large windows overlooking the garden. A good sized chest of drwers and more hanging space in the built in cupboard in the hallway just outside the door. Upstairs the room has a spacious outlay walking through to the second bedroom which is perfect for a family with younger children. There is an ensuite , a luxury walk in 'wet room'

Notes:

Locally, the River Charente offers canoeing,swimming and lovely riverside walks. There are also other activities, horse riding, tours of Cognac making process, French country markets. A little further afield is the Futuroscope centre at Poitiers (one and half hours drive). The fabulous aquarium in beautiful historic La Rochelle (one and half hours drive) or just another few kms, visit the scenically perfect Ile de Re, a beautiful island off the coast of La Rochelle, where the rich Parisians have the holiday homes. A little further down the coast are the busy beach resorts of Royan and St Georges, where you can enjoy the lovely sandy beaches and perhaps sample the wonderful local fish and seafood restaurants. Or you can drive down to Arcachon and explore the amazing sand dunes and beautiful isolated beaches.

Travelling

Although Bordeaux is the largest International airport, this area is very well served by other smaller airports especially used by the budget airlines. Ryanair. Bergerac - one hour, Limoges - one hour, La Rochelle - one and a half hours, Poitiers - one and a half hours. Bmibaby - Bordeaux - 45/55 minutes. Flybe - Bergerac. La Rochelle. All of these airports have car hire facilities, so driving here may not be your only alternative.

Other Activities There is a very large garden at the rear of the property and is ideal for children to play. Ideal for cricket.
