A warm welcome awaits you at Chez Beaugis, a traditional Charentais cottage situated in one of the sunniest and friendliest regions of France. It is surrounded by the peaceful Charente countryside with it's fields of sunflowers, with wild flowers in the Spring. Located in a small hamlet, but only a few minutes drive from Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure.The cottage was built around 1830 and has been fully renovated, retaining original features such as stonewalls, beams and orignal terracotta floor tiles.There is a lovely sunny courtyard, and at the rear of the cottage there is a secluded garden where the above ground pool measuring 3.5 diameter and 1 metre deep is situated. There are also 2.5 acres of south facing grounds to explore. The cottage is fully equipped for all your self-catering needs for your winter or summer holiday rental. It is a perfect place to relax all year round. Lynn & Ken the owners will be on hand to welcome you and ensure that your stay is a relaxing & enjoyable one.

Chez Beaugis is just 25 minutes from the N10. A small hamlet in a quite part of the Charente countryside. Chasseneuil is a small market town 3kms away with all amenities, also within easy reach of Angoulême which is a walled town steeped in history. It has a large covered market, you will also find an excellent range of shops and restaurants. Just 10 minutes away is La Rochefourcauld with it XLLc Château again there is a good range of shops and eateries. Further afield you will find good sandy beaches less than 2 hours away, also Futurscope 75 minutes.

Additional information about rental rates

  • In the off peak season there is a 10% discount for 2 people. Short breaks of 2, 3 or 4 days are available on request please contact us for availability & prices. Longer Winter lets available, prices on request.
    A 35% deposit is required to secure a booking, the full amount to be paid 8 weeks before arrival. A returnable security deposit of £50 per adult is requested with your balance or in euros upon arrival. Fully inclusive of bed linen, towels & tea towels. Pool towels are also supplied. (For a two week stay bed linen and towels will be changed on the second week.) Logs for fire, electric, gas & cleaning materials are all included. Electric heating can be supplied if required, at an addition cost. If final cleaning is required a charge of £35.00 will be made.

    BED & BREAKFAST is available on request £45.00 per double room.

Notes: THE ABOVE GROUND POOL measures approx 3.5 metres diameter x 1 metre deep, for sole use of the cottage. Perfect for infants & grand infants alike. A perfect place to cool off on a hot summers day. The pool will normally be available from second week in June to the first week in September. Gas barbecue, small selection of Cd's & DVDs for use during your stay. The kitchen area is equipped to a very high standard with all modern conveniences. You will find enough utensils and pans for all your culinary needs from a quick snack to a 3 course meal. Toaster, Cafetiere, Ironing board & iron. A large fridge with freezer. Washing machine in utility area. & clothes line. Cosy lounge area with large fireplace & wood burning stove. Large farmhouse table, which seats 8. Badminton, swing ball, darts, chess & board games available for your use.

Chez Beaugis: Sit back and relax in the sunshine or if you are feeling more energetic, head out of the gate and take a walk through the many fields of sunflowers that surround us. Chasseneuil 3 kms away is a small market town, where you can find a heated swimming pool (The roof opens in the summer), wine cave, pizzeria, various restaurants, bars, tempting boulangeries, boucheries and supermarché. There is a small market on Saturday & Wednesday mornings where you can buy fresh local produce including oysters and local cheeses. The monument to the French Resistance & museum is also nearby. Just a short journey in any direction you will find quaint villages and medieval towns with shops, markets and many good restaurants. There are also many festivals throughout the summer.

Places of interest: Wine try before you buy at nearby St Sornin where you can purchase the excellent local wines. Velorail at Confolens & Roumaziers follow an old rail track that winds it way through the high lands on the Charente/Limousine border, past viaducts, rivers and meadows. Canoe hire on the at Mansle. Leisure Lakes nearby, with swimming, mini golf, pedloes & other activities. Fishing is available nearby, also two Golf courses. Indoor swimming pool with flume & Ice skating rink. Futuroscope Theme Park at Poitiers is 1 hr away. Cognac visit the famous distilleries and sample the finest Cognac in the world, Brantôme In the Dordogne which has a Church built in the caves. The beaches of Royan & La Rochelle are just over 1½ hours away. Talmont a pretty coastal village is worth a visit. Oradour-sur-glane The village of the martyrs. & lots more.

Getting Here: Chez Beaugis is easily reached without an overnight stop. The route is quite easy and takes you through Normandy and the Loire Valley. If you prefer to travel by train from Waterloo via Lille the TVG will bring you to where car hire is available. For those wishing to fly the nearest airport in the Summer is Angoulême which is 20 minutes away or Limoges which is 45 minutes both only take just over an 1 hour from Stanstead via Ryanair. Car hire is also available from all airports. Also flights into Poitiers, Bordeaux & La Rochelle.

We had a great time. It was like home from home with full wireless signal and English telly! My parents thought the cottage was very stylish. We loved the pet cats and dog. We were also able to use their bikes. We would love to go back.

It is so rewarding for us when the whole family enjoys our holiday home. We have tried to cater for all ages, and when you get such a lovely review from teenagers, we feel that we have got the balance right and we will keep working to maintain it.

Very good, comfortable accommodation in peaceful, countryside, only 3kms from Chassenuil. Excellent restoration, with great attention to detail. Ken and Lynne's warm welcome, and starter pack of groceries were really appreciated, as was the provision of useful information, including places/markets to visit and local dining recommendations.
We felt very comfortable, relaxed and cosy in Chez Beaugis - would happily return, and are delighted to recommend.

One of the best holidays

I stayed at Chez Beaugis with 2 children and 2 adults, the cottage was amazing (the UK TV went down well with the children) the pool was perfect as was the grounds, the dog and cats were an added bonus which kept my 4 year old happy for hours (a dog is now on her Christmas list!). Ken and Lynn and lovely and so helpful, after a long drive to get there we were met with a lovely basket of food including the all important bottle of wine, which went down very well. The town centre which is a 5 min drive has everything you need including a lovely pizza restaurant, there is a lovely play ground to keep the kids occupied in before going to the supermarket, the supermarket has everything you could need, just keep an eye out for the opening and closing times as most of the shops tend to close at 7pm. We can’t wait to go back.

Simply The Best

We have stayed in a number of gites over the years and this was simply the best. Fantastic to arrive hot & tired and have cold beer & wine as part of the welcome pack! Gite was superbly equipped & cool in hot weather. Lynn & Ken very helpful & hospitable. Beautiful location, lovely gardenwith lots of sun & shade, great to relax in the pool watching butterflies on the buddleia. Excellent restaurants & well stocked supermarkets nearby & amazing pain au raisin at local patisserie. We all had a wonderful, relaxing holiday and hope to return.

Superb Holiday Cottage

As soon as we arrived we knew we had found a lovely cottage. We received a very warm welcome from Lynn and Ken, they are the perfect hosts.Everything was just as it said it would be.

Ideal location for touring the area. Golf de la Preze (great golf course) is about 20 minutes away. Brantome is also worth a visit especially on a Friday when the market is in full swing.

Can't wait until our next visit in October. Definetly one to recommend.
