Pretty country cottage in a small village, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Patio doors lead out on to the south facing terrace with garden furniture & barbecue. The large pool is in the orchard garden & shared with three other cottages & the farmhouse. The cottage was newly furnished in 2006 with new beds, sofa, armchairs (seating for 6), dining table & 6 dining chairs. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, two with double beds & one with twin beds, & a bathroom. Downstairs there is a large open plan room with living/dining/kitchen areas, as well as a shower room. There is a wood burning stove & electric convector heaters for cooler months. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher and washing machine. There is a flat screen television with satellite, DVD player & music centre. There are supermarkets within a few minutes drive as well as excellent markets & other local shops. Good local restaurants & many leisure activities inlcuding lakeside and coastal beaches.

The village is in the South Charente region conveniently situated for the airports of Bordeaux, Bergerac, Angouleme, Poitiers & Limoges. From the ferry ports, it is approx. 5 - 6 hours drive from St Malo & 7 - 8 hours drive from Calais or Roscoff. It is close to the beautiful Dordogne region (15 mins drive) & the towns of Cognac & Angouleme. Coastal beaches approx. 1.5 hour's drive. Many leisure activities nearby including: canoeing/kayaking on the rivers, water sports on the lakes, as well as golf & tennis at the nearby country club. Excellent restaurants & markets where you can sample & buy amazingly fresh local produce & wine. Visit the beautiful village of Aubeterre-sur-Dronne (15 mins drive) with its ancient galleried & turreted houses, 12th century Eglise Monolithe & the church of St-Jacques, as well as a riverside beach with leisure facilities & canoe hire. A network of rambling walks or peaceful bike rides start from the village centre.
