Large, traditional stone cottage/gite in quiet country village near Saumur
L'Ancienne Cure (former Presbytery) is a charming self/semi-catered cottage (gite) with a private south facing garden, near the town of Saumur in the Loire Valley. Sleeps up to 5 in addition to a toddler/baby. Baby equipment (bath, high-chair etc.) and laundry facilities are available on request. The owners live nearby and if you really want to relax, we’ll even cook your evening meals for you! Our restored, tuffeau stone cottage has two large double bedrooms (each 20m2), a 50m² living/dining area with tuffeau stone fireplace and woodburner, open plan kitchen (equipped with fridge, cooker and microwave), bathroom and separate WC. The private garden has a patio area with furniture and BBQ provided, in addition to a larged lawned area with several fruit trees (please help yourself to the fruit!). Unfortunately we do not allow smoking or pets indoors. The cottage is available for year round rental. Lots more information is available on our WEBSITE, please contact us for details.

Our lovely cottage/gite is situated about 25km north of Saumur in the Loire Valley, in a small, rural village called Breil. Breil itself is surrounded by rolling countryside, forests, vineyards, lakes and the beautiful chateaux of the Loire region. Although small, the village has its own bakery (open all day) and a Château. Larger supermarkets are only 5kms away. Our nearest port is Caen which is a 3.5 hour journey by car. Cheaper ferry crossings are available Dover -Boulogne with a 5 hour car journey to the cottage. Tours airport is about 50 minutes away, Nantes about 1.5 hours & Angers half an hour. Tours & Nantes are both served by Ryanair, with flights from Stansted (Tours) and East Midlands (Nantes). Angers is served by FlyBe from Southampton. Car hire is available at all the airports mentioned.

Evening meals provided on request, dine with us at our home in the next village. Four courses 20 euros per head, two courses 15 euros per head. Both options include wine, coffee and a cheese course. Previous guests have found this particularly welcome on arrival day after a long journey!

Special Activities
Our location is superb for golf lovers (such as ourselves!). There are several 18 hole courses within half an hours drive, the nearest is at Bauge, just 15 minutes away. This is a lovely region of wine, chateaux and golf - what an ideal combination! We can advise on where to play, what to see (for non-golfers) and can even provide lovely evening meals for you after a day on the golf course or seeing the sights! Please ask us for details of our special golfing breaks.
Days Out
In addition to the wine-tasting, Chateaux, golf courses and major cities of the Loire Valley, we are also ideally situated for visiting the major theme parks of Futuroscope and Puy du Fou. Both are easily accessible for a day trip. More details and links for these superb attractions can be found on our website.
