Domaine-de-lavie is a beautiful Manoir set in 7 acres of gardens and flower filled courtyards. The former ancient farm buildings have been converted into 5 independent luxury properties of differing sizes, furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Four have their own private terrace or patio and the former coach house has a large private garden. There is a 14 metre x 8 metre pool with amazing views of the beautiful Bearnaise countryside beyond to the Pyrenees Mountains. There is plenty of room for sunbathing arond the pool with its large terrace or for just lazing or playing in the seven acres of parklike gardens. This is the perfect destination for individual couples to large family groups.

Maison Lavie was formerly the coach house of Domaine Lavie. It is a substantial detached four bedroom property which is currently being totally renovated to a luxury standard retaining lots of old world charm but with all modern amenities for 2008 season. The very private property has its own pretty gardens and the large terrace which runs along the front of the property has stunning views. This property is suitable for families or groups of friends and shares a beautiful pool with our smaller cottages. It has everything anyone could possibly need for a fabulous holiday in wonderful surroundings. It is possible to be totally private or if you wish to make new friends around the pool its up to you!

Reputed to be one of the best areas for golf courses in France. Wonderful course or salmon fishing in the beautiful rivers in season. Cheerful markets are held daily and in the Summer lively 'Fetes' are not to be missed! Salies de Bearn is an extremely attractive town famous for its wonderful hot salt water thermal spa where all kinds of beauty treatments can be enjoyed at very reasonable prices.

What to See and Do: There are numerous excellent golf courses in the area. Ski-ing is about an hour. Fishing, cycling, surfing at Biaritz and Atlantic coast can be reached in 35/40 minutes. San Sebastian in Spain is one hour away. Horse riding and walking in the mountains or around the gorgeous local area. There is so much to do and see within easy reach or maybe you would prefer to just relax by our beautiful pool and enjoy the peace and quiet! We open all year so why not come and enjoy a break 'away from it all' in early Spring or in the Autumn when the surrounding country side looks magnificent and everything is so very peaceful!

A Christmas or New Year Break?: Why not take a Christmas or New Year break in Park cottage (up to 6 people) with its pretty wood burning stove or for larger groups in Maison Lavie (up to 10) with its gorgeous open log fire and wonderful large living room? Both are perfect for a convivial Winter 'get-together' with friends or family. We are happy to help in any way we can to make your stay memorable. Its possible to reach the ski slopes for the odd day of activity or if you are feeling less energetic how about a visit to the famous Thermal Spa in Salies de Bearn with its soothing and healing natural hot salt waters? The beauty treatments are an absolute bargain. Perfect for large family gatherings away from it all! Treat yourself!

Large Parties: Although all our properties are completely self-contained and perfect for individual small parties of people they can be booked together for parties of up to 26 people, ideal for reunions with family or friends - but you will have to book early to be sure of getting all the properties!

Other Activities: surfing on Atlantic coast 35 mins, whitewater rafting, canoeing, tennis. Thermal Spa-beauty treatments

An amazingly tranquil two weeks in the most heavenly setting. Our “home” and hosts left nothing to chance and everything is so wonderfully cared for as are the guests. Many, many thanks. A wonderful hideaway in the French counrtyside

Our family of four stayed for a week in the summer of 2009 in Maison Lavie, the largest house on the property. It was much more than enough room for ourselves and two teenage daughters, It was comfortable, well appointed and the attention to detail was impressive.

While the house is 17th century it has been tastefully updated. A great mix of both ancient and modern. The kitchen was well appointed making cooking here enjoyable. In the mornings we enjoyed on our own private patio off the kitchen with views across the fields to hills in the distance. It was a pleasure to sit here with coffee and fresh croissants from one of the patisseries in Salies de Bearn, just a five minute drive away.

While there are several cottages on the property each one has privacy. Guests can meet at the pool which also has a delightful view across the countryside.

Mary and Roger are wonderful hosts. They made us feel right at home from the moment we turned into the driveway of this hidden gem. We look forward to our next opportunity to visit and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Domaine Lavie to our friends,

The accommodation and grounds were clean and well groomed. Roger always seemed to be hard at work making sure things were in good order.

After a busy week in Paris we were looking forward to simply resting and enjoying the countryside. But with the Fete d'Orthez going on just down the road and lots of local restaurants there was plenty to do. There are several interesting small towns within a few minutes drive with great street markets as well as historical sites. The coast is an easy hours drive away where you can visit Bayonne and Biarritz and still get back to the comfort of Domaine Lavie for a late afternoon swim and dinner.

The Pyrenees are an hours drive in the other direction. Great mountain exploration and a chance to get local brebis cheese at the source! St. Engrace and St. Jean Pied de Port are pleasant day trips.

We loved our stay at Domaine Lavie and have good memories.
