Photos and Description of this Montevrain holiday cottage Dream house & pool in the woods - your vacation home near Disneyland & Paris.

Maison de Gardien is a 19th century caretaker's house. Recently renovated, it is a spacious and cozy holiday home. Many families returned 3/4/5 times. They came back for many reasons: your beds are made when you arrive and towels are provided (but bring extra for the pool). We take care of the cleaning at the end of your stay. You can cool off in the pool or if you come in a colder season, you light up the fire (no worries - the house is heated). If it is truly hot, you can cool the house with AC. The house is very comfortable; beds are of good quality! Best of all is that this is a unique, secret place at a dead-end road in the woods; still near (five minutes) from Disneyland and just 30 minutes from Paris. There are red squirrels and lots of birds around the house. The Dutch owners look forward to welcome you.

The 'Maison de Gardien' is a beautiful cottage built around 1850. Recently completely renovated, it is a very comfortable home for a family of five (plus a baby). From here it is only a five minute drive to Disneyland or less then 30 minutes to Paris. From nearby stations (train or RER), it is a 30 minute ride into Paris. Val d'Europe is also five minutes away. This is Europe's largest shopping centre and there is an outlet open all days of the year. There is a Sealife aquarium and restaurants. Within an hour drive you can visit lots of Chateaux: Fontainebleau, Vaux le Vicomte, Compiègne and many more. Also the Champagne area is nearby. Parc Asterix is 30 minutes away. Outdoor lovers can enjoy hiking, biking, canoeing, horse riding and many more sports. A Go-Kart track is nearby. 'Maison de Gardien' is located close to the main house where the owners live. This is in the woods on the valley of the river Marne near Lagny sur Marne. We can guide you on Google Earth to locate the house!

  • The Bathroom is spacious too with a separate walk-in shower as well as a bath with shower, toilet. In the bathroom are also the washing machine and clothes dryer.

  • Sleeps five plus a Baby. The double bed is XXL - 2.10mX 1.80m. Bedding is excellent quality (we rented many houses ourselves and we know what it is to sleep in those minuscule hammock-shaped beds..) Rooms are very spacious too. Beds are made when you arrive and linen is inclusive!

Notes: Maison de Gardien is a pleasant and comfortable vacation home. A hide-out in the woods, still close to Paris (30m), Disneyland (5m), Europe largest shopping centre (5min). The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave etc. A washer and dryer are in the bathroom. In addition to the central heating system there is also an air-conditioning system that will keep the house cool when it gets very hot. The pool can be used from approximately mid May to mid September and is shared with the owners. The pool is about 50 meters from the house and is equipped with two alarms - but parents should never leave small children unaccompanied!. Children can enjoy the swing and zip-line. There is enough space to kick a ball or play badminton too! Bedlinen, as well as towels are provided (and are inclusive). There is a terrace with wooden table and chairs, a BBQ.

Things to do...: Disneyland Paris is nearby. Paris is close too. A car is necessary, but if you would arrive by rail or air, there are car rental companies at the airports (Charles de Gaulle and Orly) as well as at the station Chessy/Marne la Vallée (at Disneyland Paris) Some Eurostar, Thalys and TGV trains all stop at this station. There are numerous golf courses nearby. In the house you will find a lot of guidebooks, brochures and maps. Also walking trails in Paris or the country-side. There a markets in nearby villages with fresh local produce (you are in the area of the Brie cheese) but you will find almost anything that will satisfy your culinary taste! We would be happy to advise you further!

A beautiful retreat in an excellent location......

This is the third rental we've had in France and by far the most beautiful. From the fabulous gardens and period style of the house, to the amazing location, to the woods that the kids just loved playing in, we really enjoyed our time and didn't want to leave.

A quirky but excellent layout, ten minutes from Disney, really close to Paris, close to the supermarket and a huge shopping mall (which is a bit expensive), and within driving distance of Versailles, we have nothing but good things to say about both the house and Vic and Mieke, who made us feel very welcome. House was clean, tidy, plenty of towels provided, heating and air con too.

We'd love to come back !!

Owner's Response: As with previous reviews, we are pleased again to hear these comments. The house is what you see in the pictures & what we promise in the ad, but we often hear it is better than what we advertise.

As we live 'next door', we are here when you need us; for pratical advice, for directions, for something you forgot to bring... But no worries, we are not going to sit on your doorstep: We understand you are here to enjoy a great time with family or friends.

And everyone seems to have a very good time. The guest books in the house (we are near volume 3 now) will explain why. But please judge for yourself!

Maison de Gardien is open all year and is a great place for all seasons; Central Paris is just 25 minutes away, Disneyland less then 10 minutes. But there are plenty of other exciting places to see near us!

The Perfect Place.

This undoubtingly is in the most perfect place to visit both Disneyland and Paris.

Disney is less than 10 mins drive, the easiest visit we done out of the thirteen, and Paris was only 25 mins away.

Due to the very easy drive into Paris meant that we could pop there very frequently.

A late night visit to the Eiffel Tower was a highlight.

The accommodation itself was fantastic. It lacked nothing.

The house was wonderful and in the perfect woodland setting (red squirrels and bats included), and with a great swimming pool.

The owners were extremly friendly and helpful.

This is a fantastic base for a holiday to France, the villa is set in impressive gardens, the pool is large and our 3 children had a great time swimming from first thing in the morning until last thing at night, we also spent quite a bit of time on the chess board and badmington area. The owners are really lovely people who do not intrude on your holiday at all but do offer great advise on the local area. The villa has all you require for a self catering holiday, dont expect modern/state of the art as this is more farmhouse/gite, however we were very happy with this. Disney and Val de Europe are only a 10-15min drive and the roads were relatively quiet. Overall this was a fantastic holiday and I will definatley return to this villa when going back to France.

Second time just as good as the first!

Well as the title says, this was our second year staying at Maison de Gardien, and we were definitely glad we decided to go back. This house is clean and tidy with everything you need and the bed in the master bedroom is seriously comfy! I would recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit Disney (10 mintues drive) or Paris but wanting the convenience of 'a home'. Val d'Europe (5 minute drive) is good for shopping with a large Auchan hypermarket. There are as you can imagine plenty of restaurants nearby including an Indian and a Chinese, both of which do take-aways, which we found rather enjoyable!

The Perfect Disney Hideaway

This place was everything we wanted and more. It's close and convenient for both Disneyland and Paris itself ( 10mins car to Disneyland and 25mins Paris Centre) yet it's quiet and peaceful and a great place to relax away from it all. A car is definitely needed. The house itself has everything you need and is spotless. The owners, Mieke and Vic, were great fun and very welcoming (along with their Dutch friends!). The pool was heated and a big hit with the kids.
We have very fond memories of this place and would love to return some day. Highly recommended!!!
