La Haute Mare. Situated in the charming rural village of St Aubin la Plaine (which has a shop/bar), only 40 minutes from superb Atlantic beaches and 5 minutes from the town of Ste Hermine (shops, supermarket, restaurants and a weekly market), this pair of character cottages shares a 12m x 6m heated, fenced pool, together with large lawned grounds allowing plenty of room for children's games. There is a boules court, covered table tennis and a children's play house. Les Semailles sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms. Le Moissons sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, with the option of an adjacent annex bedroom with en-suite for a total of 8. The cottages have been renovated to a high standard, featuring exposed beams and stonework and are comfortably furnished. Each has an attractive terrace for outdoor meals. The properties are well situated for exploring the Vendee, with its superb coast and historic sites and are only 10 minutes from the motorway.

First floor - (access by spiral staircase) master bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet. Adjacent annex twin bedroom (access via the terrace) with en-suite shower room and toilet . Dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, terrace with garden dining furniture, BBQ, central heating, Wi-Fi Internet access. Shared heated, fenced pool 12m x 6m, depth 0.80m to 1.60m, terrace with sun-loungers at the pool, shared games room with table tennis, large lawned grounds (fully fenced), boules pitch. Parking.

A wonderful family retreat

I can highly recommend this as a relaxing family holiday, the gite is very well presented with lovely on site owners, who have given their holiday homes much careful thought. It is beautifully safe for toddlers with a fenced pool, and a great playing area for kids of all ages. The location is an easy drive to the fantastic beaches in one direction and the Mervant - Vouvant region in the other direction where kids have a choice of activities including climbing in the forest, boating on the river and a Zoo. Adults can find some great restaurants and wineries. We have already booked to return!
