Rental rates for the apartment in Pyrenees-Atlantiques, France

Notes to the rental rates

• Heating is included (electric radiators in all rooms).
  Changeover days are Saturdays in July/August. Otherwise by arrangement, if requested.
  Stays of less than 1 week available outside July/August, upon request.
  
• 25% of price payable with reservation. 100% reimbursed if cancellation more than 8 weeks before start date, 50% reimbursed if cancelled between 4 and 8 weeks before start date, 25% reimbursed if cancellation between 2 and 4 weeks before start date. Remaining 75% of price payable 2 weeks before start date.
  
• Deposit of £100 on top of rental price payable 2 weeks before start date. This will be returned within 2 weeks of departure if no damage or losses discovered.

Seaside and mountains

The huge sandy beach is just across the road. Bathing is safe, and children's activities (beach and sailing school) are professionally organised. Waves are sometimes surfable, but better known surfing beaches are close by. Hendaye-Plage also has a beautiful and substantial new marina, from where ferries cross to Fontarrabia (tapas, historic centre etc.) The Pyrenees are within minutes, and provide spectacular walking, views and bird-watching - eagles/vultures etc in the region, migrating birds (cranes etc.) in October. The rivers offer numerous organised rafting opportunities.

Sport

There is a tennis club in Hendaye-Plage, and many superb golf courses within 30 mins either side of the border. Sailing and motor boats can be hired at the marina, from where sea fishing trips and water ski-ing are also organised. Surfing is the best in Europe.

Basque culture

The proud Basque traditions are all around, both in France and Spain. Their pretty villages are in the hills and on the coast, with their beautiful churches, pelota courts and many restaurants and cider farms (with delicious eating and atmosphere) offering their unique cuisine.

There are several coastline and mountain 18-hole courses on either side of the border within 30 mins - details in the apartment
