Beautiful property, very clean and well maintained, fantastic breakfast. Owners very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended, great if you have children.Janice & Kurt
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Young Children
Owner's Response: We are pleased to say that Janice and Kurt's review reflected the comments that we were delighted to have had from our guests and are happy to confirm that we aim for a high standard in our attitude to all aspects of your stay.
If our guests are not happy then neither are we.
We pay special attention to cleanliness, with rooms being serviced daily and fresh linen and towels provided as required.
We aim to provide a relaxed atmosphere for our guests both inside and outside with ample seating areas, sun loungers, parasols and BBQ,s. We tend to find that with the friendly atmosphere our guests are happy to mingle, but there are lots of areas for those who like to sit and read quietly or just relax for a few minutes on their own. We love having children visit and have some pool toys for them and a small play area with swing and rope ladder.
We enjoy providing a hearty "petit dejeuner" for our visitors, with fruit and jams from our own garden and fresh croissants and pain daily from our local boulangerie.
Our guests especially appreciated the facilities for catering for themselves with the provision of a microwave oven, kettle, toaster and ample fridge space to store perishables and of course the BBQ's. This means you can relax around the pool all day, with the ability to prepare a snack on hand.
With a large salon to retreat to and a drink of your choice and wine in the evening, we hope to have looked after your every need, and look forward to seeing you this summer.

Joyce and Don.

Magnificent setting/home and exeptional hosts

Review Submitted: August 22, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
From the time we left the Airport in La Rochelle, Don and Joyces direcions led us through beautiful Frence countryside, with tree lined avenues, to Le Grand Moulin in a stunning rural setting. On the days that we travelled out to explore with our two children, aged 9 and 11, we always looked forward to the warmest of welcomes form our hosts as we returned in the evenings. Don's unique gin & tonics are sensational. This is a perfect location to explore many interesting places or just to relax and unwind. It really was the best of both worlds and I would highly recommend it. We stayed for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed every minute, particularly our two children, who cannot wait to go back.

Owner's Response: We hope that future guests benefit from Hugh and Alison's description of our chambre d'hotes and the area surrounding us. We offer a calm and relaxed setting to the discerning holidaymaker, with the chance to mix with other guests and meet new friends or simply to spend time en famille. There are many pastimes such as boules, cycling, table tennis or pool not to mention the swimming pool, and lovely beaches and places of interest a short car journey away. And at the end of a perfect day in the French countryside or lazing by the pool one of Don's famous gin and tonics awaits you. The end to another perfect day as a guest at Le Grand Moulin Chambre d'Hotes.

Le Grand Moulin ~ Simply the Best!!

Review Submitted: July 15, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Le Grand Moulin ~ Simply the Best!!

My husband and I and six of our friends had ‘Simply the Best’ of times during our holiday week at this beautiful chateau. Only thing wrong was we booked for one week and it should have been two weeks as we were well looked after by our hosts Joyce & Don who gave us a warm welcome and attended to all our needs and provided us with beautiful spotlessly clean accommodation, superb food and of course lots of lovely ‘spirits’ for us to sample and the week just flew past. We hope to make a return visit very soon.

Best of Both

Gloucestershire Family of Four Gloucestershire, UK.
Review Submitted: September 3, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
A last minute booking for 8 nights for our family of 4 with two teen girls. Superb, the best of B&B meets the best of gite rentals. Normally we always rent a gite but all the decent reasonable priced ones are booked by August! Certainly not a fuddy duddy B&B, and it was so relaxing to not have to rush out for milk and bread each morning, but having a barbecue and fridge made it more relaxing not "having" to eat out twice a day! Great value for money.

Superb hosts, Don's G&Ts were very welcome after hot days out at the beach. Yummy breakfasts to set us up for the day, I think we ate our weight in Charentaise melons and pastries/croissants, cereals and juice are available too! Beautiful and very clean accommodation, comfy beds and a lovely pool area with plenty of room for everyone. It was great to have the company of other guests but there was plenty of privacy too. Children were not just tolerated but welcomed.

Best of all, we could lounge around all day if we wished, no pressure at all to "go out" like some B&Bs. Our hosts were so welcoming and helpful with information on what to do and where to go.

We would return again in a flash, Le Grand Moulin is in a great position for exploring beaches and inland, towns and country. Great area for cycling too.
