All rooms are large; 5 bedrooms, 5 receptions, very large well equipped kitchen (52ft x 35ft), and south facing conservatory. Accommodates 11 or so plus Cot in great comfort. Linen and towels all provided. Catering and extra cleaning can be arranged.

Notes to the rental rates

• Bookings are Saturday to Saturday. Please Check availability and rates with owner. The rates include weekly change of bed linen, tea towels and towels (Pool towels for outdoor use are not provided) Telephone calls other than local calls are charged. Electricity and gas are included. Beds are changed on Saturday mornings.
  
• An initial charge/deposit of 50% is payable on booking. A refundable security deposit of £250 per week is payable prior to final confirmation.

Activities including golf are within easy reach

This scenic area is known for its famous wines, fruit and market gardens. Private heated pool, tennis, boules and table tennis are all available on site. An outstanding championship golf course, Chateau des Vigiers, is within 12 minutes drive with golf, driving range, and restaurant facilities. The sand dunes of the Atlantic coast are about an hour and 15 minutes drive away. Lac St. Sernin across the valley from the Château has a freshwater lake with a sandy beach ; sailing, boating, windsurfing, fishing, horse riding are all nearby. The river Dordogne and related watersport facilities are 15 minutes away. The Chateau has a table tennis table in one of the towers, and a selection of board games to play in the conservatory on rainy days. BBQing under the covered loggia is also weather proof.

Chateau des Egrons is situated in the Gironde hills bordering the Lot-et-Garonne and the Dordogne, a beautiful location in the famous vineyards of the South West. The historic bastide village of Duras is 5 minutes by car. Large towns such as Ste. Foy-la-Grande, Bergerac and Marmande are all within easy reach. St. Emillion is 30 minutes by car. Lots of lovely villages, restaurants and places of interest surround the Chateau. All are detailed in a comprehensive, illustrated 'information book' located at the Chateau.

An historical site with commanding views

The site dates back to Roman times while the building dates from the 15th century and is considered a local historic monument, with interesting features and signs of fortification. Previous owners include the Marquis de Seville and the Duc de Duras. The Chateau has been associated with the father of Paul Revere (of American history fame) made famous for his ‘ride’ by Longfellow. The accommodation is very spacious. All the rooms are large, and furnished with French country antiques. lots of comfort and space for a family or friends to enjoy. On very hot days the thick stone walls make it is cool and comfortable inside.

Golf Information:

Chateau des Vigies, a championship course, is within 12 minutes of the Chateau. This venue has tennis, driving range and buggy and club hire facilities. It has award winning restaurants and bottles its own excellent wine (claret carried by M&S). English is widely spoken and bookings easy to make. The pros are happy to book you in for lessons. There is a 9 hole practice course and bunker and putting practice facilities.
