The rustic cottage can comfortably sleep a couple or family of four. Across the courtyard is the main house where the on site owner Jodie lives full of local advice. There is a kitchenette, open plan dining/living room, 2 double futon sofas, shower room and separate WC. Upstairs is an open mezzaine with a charming large double bedroom & single room. The cottage has extras like books, games, and a TV for watching DVDs. Outside by a vine covered trellis is seating for 4 people with a BBQ. In the garden are fruit trees and places to relax such as the hammock or on loungers by the private pool. Bikes are available for exploring the local countryside. The barn houses a snooker table and games for the garden such as boules. La Croix is ideally located for exploring the villages of Brantome and Aubeterre or the city of Angouleme. In the village there is a friendly restaurant across the street and a 5 min walk from the house are tennis courts, rackets are available and a co-op for fresh bread

Nearest Ferry: St Malo at 450 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Angouleme at 9 Kilometres
Nearest Motorway: n10 at 9 Kilometres

The property is 25 minutes from city the of Angouleme with its old town street cafes, restaurants, shops and cartoon museum. It is only 45 minutes to the beautiful town of Brantome with its wonderful Friday market. Aubeterre has a magnificent monolithic church, antique shops and restaurantes. Nautilus, an indoor waterpark, is only 25 minutes away. There is a lake with boating, swimming, sailing and lots of other outdoor activities. Day or evening trips on the river Charente are a must. There are a choice of 4 nearby golf courses. Or you can just relax by the pool, go for bike rides or play tennis in the village. The charming restaurant across the street serves great food. There are markets and a supermarche within 10 minutes drive. From the 1st of April Ryanair will begin flying into Angouleme's airport, Brie, from Stanstead, which is a 20 minute drive to the property. Limoges or Poitiers airports are 1hr.30mins away.

We celebrated my birthday with family and friends at this beautiful gite. I cannot praise the hostess more for her welcome.

Her aritistic influence is everywhere. So much to do, including her jewellery and art workshop courses.

I cannot recommend this home more. One very satisfied customer and will definitely book again.

We stayed at this fantastic property during summer 2008 and we could not fault it. Our main attraction to this property was its relaxed setting in rural Charente. You could not fault the super level of customer service from the owner, there was a warm welcome on arrival and lots of helpful advice on what to do and see. The cottage was just as described on the website and even more and the children loved the pool. I would not hesitate to return to this lovely cottage and would absolutely recommend it to anyone.
