Photos and Description of this Verthier holiday house 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 8

Des Rosiers is a large alpine-style house in a tiny village called Verthier at the southern end of Lake Annecy. Quiet and peaceful, the house enjoys stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains and is the ideal location for year-round holidays (25 minutes from Annecy itself, 20 minutes from the nearest golf course and only 40 minutes from the nearest ski resort). This has been our personal holdiay home for more than 10 years and have always loved its character, but have recently completed a major renovation with new bathrooms and heating and redecorated it throughout to make it even more comfortable.

Notes: The house is on three levels. The ground floor includes a comfortable sitting room with large stone fireplace and satellite TV which receives English and French programmes. There is a formal dining room, a more casual breakfast area and a well-equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and microwave oven. There is also a separate WC on this floor. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms (one with en suite bathroom), a twin-bedded room (each bed is actually a small double), another bathroom with its own shower cubicle and a separate WC. All the bedrooms are light and comfortable and have traditional wood cladding on the ceilings and lovely views. Downstairs is a lovely twin-bedded room, which opens up onto its own terrace and another bathroom. Also on this floor is the boiler room (which houses the washing machine and tumble drier) and the integral garage with automatic door. We regret no under 5s, no pets and no smoking in the house.

A beautiful house in a beautiful setting.

Review Submitted: June 4, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
I have often booked a property on the internet only to be disappointed by the reality. Des Rosiers was an exception to this rule, I expected it be be nice but it disappointed in no way whatsoever, if anything it was better. The house is clean, well maintained and well equipped and is as described. eight of us stayed a week in the house which was plenty big enough for us all. the views of lake Annecy and the surrounding mountains are stunning. Sipping coffee on the balcony over looking the lake first thing in the morning is a great way to start the day. Each evening we cooked on the barbeque and ate on the patio, often watching the paragliders jumping of the nearby mountains.

Annecy is a car journey away and is a lovely historic town with activities on the lake, these can also be found at other locations all around the lake. we didn't visit too many places as we just enjoyed relaxing for the week. the lake is well worth going to for a swim, the water was only 14 degrees c when we went but was well worth a dip in one of the cleanest lakes I have seen.

The owners have been very friendly in our dealings with them and very efficient; our deposit cheque was return within a week of our return. without reservation I would recommend this property, area and owners.

Des Rosiers Review

Review Submitted: May 6, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
My husband and I stayed for 2 weeks with our two young children in this wonderful house last summer. We normally don't return to the same place twice, prefering to explore other places. However, we have made an expection for this wonderful house in a stunning location and are returning this summer. The house has everything you could wish for, stunning views, a beautiful garden, excellent equipment including a washing machine and tumble dryer - it is superb! The surrounding area has lots to do including hiking in the mountains, water sports or sunbathing by the beautiful clean lake, ice skating etc...This is a great holiday for an active faimily and probably also for a not very active family - but I don't have one of those!!

A Perfect Christmas

Review Submitted: February 3, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
Des Rosiers was simply perfect for our family christmas. The house was immacualtely clean, cosy and welcoming. The layout of the house is perfect with the main living, cooking and eating areas on one semi open plan floor making it a very sociable space. There are fabulous views from every window and balcony. The house is 'homely' and generously kitted out with everything you could possibly need, unlike many sparce holiday lets. There are many fantastic walks in the area, with a particularly beautiful one just at the bottom of the drive, and the house is within easy range for a day on the slopes.
The Reddie's were particularly helpful with local tips and all our travel queries.

Perfect stay in Des Rosier

De Vlieken Harderwijk
Review Submitted: May 24, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
The discription on the internet site is very accurate and the place is situated just as described. A little up the moutainslope so that you have stunning views from the balcony over the lake and mountains.

When we arrived the house was clean and tidy. There were some spiderwebs here and there but that was it.

The garden was beautiful and secluded. We spent a lot of time there resting after our daytrips in area.

We haven't been to a restaurant and made our evening dinner on the bbq in the garden or in the well equiped kitchen.

The villa is newly renovated and is really very nice for a larger family. We were with 7 persons, and three of them over 70 years of age and the house was very comfortable for all of us.

The location is fine as well, we made trips to the Mont Blanc, Col Galibier, Alpe 'd Huez. Shopping in Faverges or Annecy. Annecy is a nice town with a lot of shops and market.

Right behind the house lies Col Forclaz, Mont Min and thats were the parapenters take of for a flight over the lake. From the garden you can see them come over and it is a nice trip up there.

So, if you are looking for a place near Annecy, check-out Des Rosier.
