Gite des Forts is the perfect place to relax and enjoy country side, beaches, and fresh produce from the sea, vineyards and farms and to take in the Roman Architecture of the friendly towns and villages of the Charente-Maritime. Gite des Forts shares an idyllic two acre plot surrounded by trees and fields on the edge of the village of St-Hippolyte. The centre of St-Hippolyte is less than 1km from the Gite. The English speaking owners live on site. There is an independent access for guests.

St-Hippolyte gives the benefits of good access to many attractions including the sea sides of Port des Barques 15 mins west, Fouras with the famous Fort Boyard and Chatelaillon 20 mins north, La Rochelle and the beautiful Ile de Ré 40 mins north, Marennes and Ile d’Oléron 30 mins west, Royan 40 mins south. Finally Surgères 25 mins north and a little further away the Marais Poitevin. The nearest town is Rochefort, just 10 minutes West of St-Hippolyte. Saintes is 25 mins south. Rochefort and Saintes offer a full range of shops, restaurants and bars, and boat trips on the Charente. The best beaches in France are near to St-Hippolyte like the extensive sandy beaches of St Georges de Didonne. Others such as Royan, St Palais Sur Mer & La Palmyre are a little further up this fantastic coast and must not be missed.

THE WELCOME PACK: a welcome pack is provided for your arrival. It contains wine, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, pastas, butter, cheese, pâté, bacon, water, orange juice, chocolate and marmalade. THE BICYCLES: there are 4 adult bicycles and 4 children bicycles for children who are 3 to 5 years old, 4 to 6, 6 to 8 and 8 to 12. There is also a PING-PONG TABLE.

Directions: From Calais and Paris take the motorway A10 until the exit ST-Jean d'Aangély number 34. Then take the direction of Rochefort. From La Rochelle airport follow the road RN 137 and always straight up the motorway A837 until Tonnay-Charente exit number 33. there you are at about 6 km from St-Hippolyte on Saintes direction.

Descripton of the gite: More details: At the ground floor there are a kitchen, a lounge which can be also used like a double bedroom. there is a hall between the kitchen and the lounge. At the first floor there are a double bedroom and a triple one, between this 2 rooms there are a bathroom and separate wc.

Town facilities: At 6 kms from St-Hippolyte there is a town along the river Charente with all facilities you may need: super market (super u ), medical practitioner, chemists etc...The nearest hospital is in Rochefort ( 13 kms from St-Hippolyte).
