Les Hauts de Cocraud, built in 1996, with its heated swimming pool, is in a marvellous location just 100 metres from the sea and its characteristic oyster beds, and just 1km from a sandy beach and the picturesque little harbour of La Flotte, reputedly one of the most beautiful villages in France. This is a simple holiday village, comprising 92 terraced, whitewashed houses, built in the island's traditional architectural style, each with its own enclosed courtyard. Children are well provided for with an outdoor heated swimming pool and a large grassed play area with climbing frame and table tennis. The village is completely pedestrianised, creating a safe and peaceful environment which is particularly appreciated by young families. The on-site restaurant is open from 01/04 (evenings only) and offers a half board package for anyone who should wish. Take away meals are also available both at midday and in the evening. The duplex house for 4 to 6 people is 50 m², is centrally heated and is simply furnished with all the essentials. On the ground floor, is a living room with a trundle sofa-bed for 2 people, a dining table and chairs, a TV and a fire-place. There is a kitchenette equipped with hot plates, fridge, mini oven or micro wave, dishwasher, crockery and cutlery for 6 people. Just a word of advice: the kitchen equipment is very French so you will have a coffee making machine and espresso cups but no kettle (although this can be requested from reception) and we recommend you bring your own mug unless you are happy to do it like the locals and drink your morning tea from a bowl! On the first floor there is 1 bedroom with 2 single beds, 1 bedroom with bunk beds and 1 bathroom with a bath and shower hose. The toilet is separate and is on the ground floor. Every house has a private courtyard with garden furniture, a great place to relax over a coffee or an evening aperitif as the sun goes down.

Notes to the rental rates

• There is a non refundable booking fee of 25 euros. Many special offers - please ask .
  A deposit of 25% is payable at the time of booking with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.
  
• A local tourist tax is payable on arrival. As a guide, this is approximately 0.78 euros per adult and child over 10 years old and 0.40 per child under 10 years.
  A security deposit of 300 euros is payable upon arrival by cash, cheque or credit card. This will be refunded after an inventory check on the day of departure.
  
• Prices include sheets and pillow cases and towels, a mid stay clean and and end of stay clean (except for the kitchen, which we ask that you ensure is left clean and tidy). A television is also included in the price.
  A baby kit can be hired for 25 euros per week.

La Flotte

La Flotte presents an interesting contrast, between the beautiful residences aligned along the quays and the labyrinth of the small houses in the interior lanes, where you will also find the wonderful, medieval market hall, tempting you with the most mouthwatering array of local produce. Formerly a fishing village,La Flotte, was formed around the castle of Mauléons, close to the current church. Little by little, it grew around its developing port in the 18th century under Louis XV. The trade and the exchanges were very prosperous there, as the beautiful houses on the avenue Felix Faure will testify. The church Sainte Catherine’s bell-tower reminds us that before trains, trading ships made stopovers here: Norwegians, Dutchmen, Spaniards and even Americans came to buy the famous Ile de Re salt, brandy, vinegar... The characteristic pier goes back to 1840; it extends its superb circular arm of over 200 metres long, with a 9 metre high lighthouse at its end, visible from 15km away.
