Spacious detached house, PRIVATE POOL, large walled gardens

Le Petit Parc is a spacious detached house dating back to the 17th century when it originally formed part of a priory. It is set on the edge of a small hamlet and has a very large garden surrounded and secluded by a stone wall. The pool has the sun all day long and is for the exclusive use of our guest. The entire property is completely private, it is not shared with other guests or the owner and is ideal for a relaxing family holiday or chilling out with friends. Locally the area offers rivers and lakes with a variety of boating and water sports, golf, tennis, river fishing and horse riding. The town of Mansle is just 10mins drive with a good range of shops, restaurants, bank, supermarket, post office etc. Nearby is Angouleme, the capital of Charente, and the medieval town of La Rochfoucauld with it's stunning chateau. Futuroscope theme park is within easy reach, as are the distilleries at Cognac and many charming small towns and villages. More comprehensive information below

The property is located on the edge of the charming hamlet of St Ciers-sur-Bonnieure, set in the beautiful Charente countryside amidst rolling fields of maize and sunflowers, woods and rivers. -----------BY ROAD---------- easy access from Paris & northern ferry ports via the N.10 autoroute, the nearest ferry port is St Malo at 5 hours drive ----------BY TRAIN---------- the high speed network links from London Marylebone via Paris or direct to nearby Angouleme where car hire is available. If you choose to spend a few days in Paris, en route, the comfortable high speed TGV takes 2 hrs to Angouleme ----------BY AIR--------- there are five airports accessible to the house Limoges or Poitiers (both 60 min), Bordeaux (90 min) Bergerac (160min) La Rochelle (120min). House

The house is well furnished and equipped. Upstairs in the main house there are two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom. Downstairs in the adjoining annexe there is a further double bedroom which has it's own access to the garden and tea/coffee making facilities. All bedrooms have proper beds (no Put U Ups or pull outs) and are a good double size with wardrobes The bathrooms are in the main house, a large bathroom/shower with separate WC upstairs and a shower room with WC downstairs. The sitting room has comfortable chair/sofa's, TV, DVD and satellite with English channels. The large dining room has a beamed ceiling, open staircase, dining for 8 people, preparation area with fridge, microwave and character stove, fireplace, CD player and telephone for incoming calls. There is also a kitchen with a further gas hob, separate freezer, dishwasher and laundry facilities. The floors are all tiled downstairs and wood upstairs.

Garden

There is a beautiful large and secluded walled garden, laid mainly to grass with lots of mature trees and shrubs. The pool is 10m x 5m and is set in the garden. The pool area has 8 loungers and gets the sun all day long. There is also a large terrace with BBQ and wooden garden furniture for seating 8 people. There is full size table tennis and ample parking inside the gates. The entire property is for the EXCLUSIVE use of our guest.

Area and facilities

The hamlet is rural and typical of the area. There is a bar but no shops, however, the baker comes daily and the charcuterie twice a week and there are restaurants and shops in Mansle (6km). This part of France has many small market towns and charming villages and only a few large cities due to the damage done during the Wars of Religion. The architecture is ancient & unspoilt, the magnificent chateau at La Rochfoucauld has been in the same family for 1000yrs. Cognac offers tours of the distilleries or you can just enjoy the many rivers in the area. For the more active local facilities include tennis, kayaks and fishing at Mansle. Angouleme (30km) has a lake complex with sandy beach, jetskiing, water-skiing, windsurfing and a leisure centre with children’s pools, chutes & lazy river. The area also has horse riding & karting. Futuroscope is 60min away and Le Vallee des Singes monkey sanctuary is great family fun. Maybe try the Velorail and pedal your way through forest trails.

We absolutely loved our vacation at Le Petit Parc. The property was exactly as described and then some. Linda provided us with all kinds of advice and recommendations about the region and the guest book provided everything else that we could have asked. The house had everything we needed and provided a lovely homebase to this picturesque region.

We loved the region so much that we have considered purchasing there some day.

My wife and I and our 7 month old had a wonderful time and will think fondly of this vacation for years to come. We will be back!!
