Characterful 18th century house in delightful Provencal village

This charming house is situated in the village square of Mirabel-aux-Baronnies, in the Drome Provencal, a little-discovered yet beautiful corner of Provence. Built in 1760, the house has been restored in traditional provencal style, with exposed beams, white walls and colourful tiles. The house has a well-equipped kitchen looking onto the village square. The spacious sitting room has a provencal fireplace, original wooden beams and a piano. A small room serves as a library, as well as a spare bedroom with a double bed. Upstairs, the master double bedroom overlooks the garden while a second large double bedroom looks over the village square. There also is a quiet third single bedroom, and shower room with bidet, wc and washbasin. Downstairs, doors lead from the sitting room to a south-facing terrace and walled garden, with lavender, vines, rosemary, thyme.. The garden also has table, chairs, parasol and BBQ .. the ideal setting for aperitifs and a game of boules before an evening BBQ

Mirabel-aux-Baronnies is situated 30 miles east of the Rhone Valley, north east of Avignon, equidistant (8km) from the historic Vaison-la-Romaine to the south, and Nyons to the north, a market town famous for its olives. The village is sited between the provençal landscape of olive groves, vineyards and apricots to the west and the pre-Alps to the east, offering impressive hiking and mountain bike trails. The house is well equipped with local maps of the area, with the ranges of the Baronnies, the Dentelles and the Mont Ventoux all within easy reach. In summer, there is choice of places to cool off: two waterparks, local rivers, or the spectacular Vallée de Toulerenc gorge. No matter what season, the region is breathtaking: Spring brings the wonderful apricot and cherry blossom, in summer the fields are full of lavender and sunflowers, autumn sees the vineyards turn to red & gold, and the winter sun provides wonderful light for artists and nature lovers - come and discover it!
