Stunning watermill with boats for exploring the river

Moulin de Neuffons (Mill of the Nine Fountains). The Watermill has been recently restored in a truly magical location set on its own small island in the river Dropt. Accessible by wide bridge. The mill has three terraces, each planted with English roses and lavender where you can sunbathe, barbecue or just sit in the (roman style) dipping pool and relax. There are canoes and boats for exploring the river, which is well stocked with fish. The Watermill dates from the 12th Century and the old grain wheels can be seen. On the first floor there are three bedrooms each with double bed, private bathroom and WC, the third bedroom also has a single bed. Linen is provided. The second floor is a very large open plan living area with a 'cooks' kitchen opening onto one of the flowered terraces. It is ideal to relax and entertain or just to sit and watch the river. There are no mosquito's. Excellent bird watching, some fishing gear provided.

Accommodation and Facilities for the house in Gironde, France

The hamlet in which the Mill is located

is situated around the mill pond. Access is by a small bridge. There are 3 other houses, not too close, around the large area of slow moving fairly shallow water which is renowned for good fishing. It is a very peaceful, tranquil setting with splendid views of the river and of the river Dropt. The boats (and safety jackets) provided by the owner make a superb facility for exploration of the river in either direction. The dipping pool will take 6 people comfortably but if you want to swim you can do so in the publice pool at Monségur about 5 minutes drive away. There are a number of golf courses within an hours drive.

Monségur and La Réole - market towns

are nearby. Both are historically important and full of interest. Monségur being a typical bastide town of the 13th Century. The wine areas of St. Emilion and the Sauternes are within 30 minutes drive. THE JAZZ FESTIVAL OF MONSEGUR is the first week-end of July - not to be missed - the whole town celerbrates JAZZ with concerts, bar groups, street music, stalls etc. Visit the Bordeaux tourist website to see what interesting and exciting events will be taking place during your holiday, please e-mail for the address.

Golf Information:

There is excellent golf at Chateau de Vigiers, about 15 mins drive away. Other courses nearby include Marmand and Langon.
