Peaceful country cottage set in an acre of garden with mature trees and a smalll finshing river running through the garden. Large south facing balcony overlooking garden, river and open country side, enjoy meals on the balcony in the peace and quiet of the country.

Lounge, Kitchen / Diner, Bathroom, Separate WC, 2 double and 1 twin bedrooms, a further separate room with 2 single futons and a double sofa bed.

Laptop with free Wireless Broadband Internet access

Games room with Table Tennis, Pool Table and safety darts.

Fully fitted kitchen, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine. Lounge with satellite TV (UK), radio, DVD. Ample secure parking.

Close to Puy De Fou, addiional swimming available in Pouzauges and Les Herbiers, plenty of quiet country walks and cycle trails. Mervent Forest close by, Vendee beaches just over an hours drive away.

The property is set in rolling countryside close to the pretty town of Pouzauges, which offers a range of leisure and shopping opportunities, swimming pool, swimming lake and historic castle. There are plenty of country walks around the property and places to cycle too. The small village of La Meilleriae-Tillay is within walking distance and has a bar, post office, garage, hairdressers, etc.

The world famous Puy De Fou is approx 25 kilometers away, this is an excellent day out and if booked early offers an even more spectacular night show.

The Mervent Forest is about 15 km away; there is an activity centre in the forest and there is a specialist fishing center, Piscalis, on the southern edge of the forest. The pretty village of Vouvant is also close by.

La Rochelle and the excellent Atlantic beaches are just over an hour away along with the Marais Poitevin, or 'Green Venice', area where boats can be rented to spend time lazing on the river

Stayed Sep 2006 + 2007 & returning in Sept 2008! House very well equipped and comfortable. Gorgeous grounds add to the peaceful atmosphere. The private pool was a fantastic addition last year and used everyday. The amazing balcony where we had many evening BBQs & glasses of wine whilst watching the sun set slowly. The area is very rural and peaceful which is the ideal holiday location if you want to totally relax and unwind and yet there are large supermarkets only 15-20 mins away.

Comfortable and relaxing holiday home.

This house was everything we had hoped for. It was clean, comfortable and stocked with everything we needed, with plenty of room and heaps of storage. The pool was fab and very warm and the garden beautiful - watching the starlings coming in to roost in the bamboo every evening was wonderful. Our 15 year old twins really appreciated the wi-fi and English TV channels! We also played quite a lot of table tennis.
Pouzauges is a lovely town with several good restaurants especially the Casse-Croute on the road to Les Herbiers. Didn't rate Les Tonnick restaurant in Pouzauges - contrary to other visitors. It was a shame that the boulangerie in the village had gone into liquidation just before we arrived!
Would highly recommend Puy du Fou - a truly wonderful place and the night show is not to be missed - although you must book early.
We would high recommend this property.

Fantastic Holiday - June/July 2011

We have not long returned from a great couple of weeks in the Vendee. Communication with the owners has been first class; the whole booking process really was very straightforward. The location is excellent - very peaceful and tranquil at the gite, yet close enough to the coast for day trips. The terrace is the perfect place to sit and unwind, and the large garden/stream is full of wildlife. The pool and games room will help keep the kids entertained and if you visit in early July, the Tour de France literally passes by the end of the road. All in all a wonderful place, and we hope to return again one day.

We had a wonderful time at this house. It was well equipped and comfortable. We ate all our meals on the balcony and the children adored the pool. It had a huge garden, which was great for hide and seek and other adventures. It was very peaceful but near a number of tourist attractions - we particularly loved the forest adventure park, where even our 5 year old was harnessed and up in the trees. The whole family agreed it was one of the best holidays we had ever had, and we would definitely return.

Firstly all the contact with the owners during the booking process and the final details sent to us just prior to our holiday were excellent, the property itself was exactly as described and was in a wonderfully peaceful setting ideal for getting away from it all, perfect for famillies with older children who will love the large gardens and the swimming pool and games room, the adults will enjoy the quiet veranda over looking the garden enjoying a glass of wine and watching the abundent wild life. we would not hesitate in recommending this property to friends and family and hope to return ourselves next year.
