Sole use of private swimming pool, 9 x 6 meter, fully fenced. Pool furniture, garden furniture. Peaceful country cottage set in an acre of garden with mature trees and a smalll finshing river running through the garden. Large south facing balcony overlooking garden, river and open country side, enjoy meals on the balcony in the peace and quiet of the cuntry. 2 double and 1 twin bedrooms, a further room with 2 single futons and a double sofa bed. Laptop with free Wireless Broadband Internet access Games room with Table Tennis, Pool Table and safety darts. Fully fitted kitchen, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine. Lounge with satellite TV (UK), radio, DVD. Ample secure parking. Close to Puy De Fou, addiional swimming available in Pouzauges and Les Herbiers, plenty of quiet country walks and cycle trails. Mervent Forest close by, Vendee beaches just over an hours drive away.

The property is set in rolling countryside close to the pretty town of Pouzauges, which offers a range of leisure and shopping opportunities, swimming pool, swimming lake and historic castle. There are plenty of country walks around the property and places to cycle too. The small village of La Meilleriae-Tillay is within walking distance and has a bakery and shop along with a bar, post office, garage, hairdressers, etc. The world famous Puy De Fou is approx 25 kilometers away, this is an excellent day out and if booked early offers an even more spectacular night show. The Mervent Forest is about 15 km away; there is an activity centre in the forest and there is a specialist fishing center, Piscalis, on the southern edge of the forest. The pretty village of Vouvant is also close by. La Rochelle and the excellent Atlantic beaches are just over an hour away along with the Marais Poitevin, or 'Green Venice', area where boats can be rented to spend time lazing on the river

Stayed Sep 2006 + 2007 & returning in Sept 2008! House very well equipped and comfortable. Gorgeous grounds add to the peaceful atmosphere. The private pool was a fantastic addition last year and used everyday. The amazing balcony where we had many evening BBQs & glasses of wine whilst watching the sun set slowly. The area is very rural and peaceful which is the ideal holiday location if you want to totally relax and unwind and yet there are large supermarkets only 15-20 mins away.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

A great property in a peaceful location

Good communication with the owner who made everything very straightforward. This is a very well equipped house,with every thing you could possibly need. It is very spacious and comfortable, and is set in a large garden with a river at the bottom, where it is lovely to sit and listen to the birdsong. We had excellent weather and the great pool ,was an added bonus to come home to after a sticky day out sightseeing.The temperature of the pool was lovely and warm, enticing even me, who is not a great swimmer in every day.We made good use of the balcony eating all our meals out there.The village was in walking distance and a fresh baguette every morning for breakfast was a good start to the day.We found plenty of places to visit especially enjoying the old town of Vitre. All in all a wonderful week in a tranquil spot , where we would loved to have stayed longer

Great value for money House is comfortable,spacious and well equiped in a lovely setting. Owners also very friendly and helpful.

excellent for families

Overall good, plenty of things to do on site.Pool fine ,except hope cover repaired ,dragging it across was an effort.Perhaps decor could do with refresh although bathroom well up to standard , all cupboards would be better without owner's belongings .Area a bit remote for eating out, although super for Puy de Fou ,evening show a must.Should have been an ideal spot for a quiet country holiday unfortunately next doors dogs' barking detracted from this.With a little more upgrading this could be a superb property.

Spacious & comfortable

This property is great for a family holiday, particularly if you fancy a quiet week without too much hopping in and out of cars. We had 2 days where we didn't go out at all, spending the day in the pool, playing table tennis & pool and having barbeques. You do need the weather for that kind of day to work though...
The house is well-equipped, and as others have said, the balcony is a notable feature. Sitting on there with a glass of wine, listening to nothing but the birds, the crickets and the odd agricultural noise - a great way to end any day.
I'm a cyclist and I had some great rides in all directions from the house - cycling on French roads is a real pleasure after British ones anyway, and the undulating nature of the countryside meant that I was in and out of the saddle, and managed to limit the damage from the French patisserie! The only reason I can think of to discourage anyone from booking here is a) if you want a beach holiday - realisitically you're not going to make the effort to drive nearly 90 mins more than once a week, and b) if you don't like the quiet. We do - not that you'd have though so from the noise the kids generated in the pool - and had a great time here.
Finally, the owners were really friendly and easy to deal with.
