Villa amongst the pine trees, 50 yards from a beautiful, quiet, sandy beach. Ideal for a family with small children. 8 minutes walk by cliff path (or local road with traffic for the surrounding villas only) to local shops, main beach, park and lake with children's playground with electric boat rides, mini-golf etc. Golf and horse racing in the vicinity. 7 km from Royan - a well known holiday resort with marina, tennis, swimming pools, riding, etc. One hour's drive from historic La Rochelle, Cognac, islands of Oleron, Aix and Ré. Direct access to approx. 30 miles of forest bicycle paths. 25 mins. by car-ferry to the Bordeaux Médoc vineyards the other side of the estuary.

Particularly suitable for a couple with young children : the town, shops and main beach are about 8 minutes away by footpath. Bicyle paths, free from traffic, start close to the bungalow.

Tennis and riding facilities are available in the vicinity; there is a large marina with all kinds of boating facilities at Royan. Sailing and sail board instruction is available in St. Palais.

A lovely home with a fabulous location

My family (me, wife, two children age 6 and 9) stayed here in May 09. It's a nice house with good facilities. The area is lovely and quiet, yet only 5-10 minutes walk to the centre of St Palais. The real bonus is that it genuinely is only 50m to the beach. It's a lovely sandy beach but with some rocky outcrops with rock-pools and little crabs to seek out. We'll be back.

GITE AT ST PALAIS SUR MER.

What a lovely place. The description of the location didn't do it justice. You can see the sea from the gate of the gite and it is, literally 50 yards down the road to a lovely beach.
You do have to then go down quite a few steps to the beach, so could be difficult for disabled or those with very small children. There are lovely walks in both directions along the cliff path, turning left takes you into the town of St Palais which is very nice. The gite itself is good, although quite small (perfect for two - could be a little cramped with 4 or 5) all on one level and has everything required in the way of equipment. Nice little paved area at the front is perfect for barbeques in the evening, hidden from the road (which is very quiet anyway) and just down 2 steps from the living area.
All in all, this was a lovely place to spend a week. The gite made a perfect base both for the beach and exploring the surrounding area. The weather was beautiful whilst we were there, which added to our enjoyment and we would certainly recommend it - particularly for couples. We hope to go again !
