Additional information about rental rates

  • On agreeing a booking we will ask you to complete a booking form and to send us 30% of the booking's value in order to secure the booking. We ask you to pay the balance not later than eight weeks before your arrival date and reserve the right to re-let the house if the balance is not paid by this date. A security deposit of £400 (€600) against damage and leaving the house in an unacceptable state is payable with the final balance. This will be returned one week after your departure less any deductions due. Guests will be expected to return a clean villa on departure. Bed linen and towel rental and property cleaning are excluded, but can usually be arranged on request at a reasonable extra cost. A discount may be available for bookings of 2+ weeks - ask for details.

Bordeaux and other things to do: Bordeaux, the vineyards and other things to do Bordeaux (35 minutes drive) is a beautiful and historic city with much heritage and with all the facilities and amenities of a thriving lively major city. There is something for everyone from shops and port to theatre and magnificent gothic cathedral with beautiful architecture. The old quarter featuring narrow streets and medieval gateways houses the local artisans' shops. There is also much to explore in the beautiful areas surrounding Bordeaux including the very pretty hilltop village of St Emillion. The world famous vineyards and chateaux of Bordeaux are in abundance and many offer tasting and tours and welcome you to stop and buy direct. A visit across the border to Spain is 90 minutes drive by car and makes a popular day trip.

Sea and beaches: The Sea & Beaches Andernos les bains beaches are ideal for children, wading out 25 metres and you are still knee deep. The Lac de maubuisson, a natural water lake, also is very child friendly with wind surfing boat and rental available. For the more adveturous the atlantic coast is a 10 to 15 minute drive. Try out the waves at the Grand cruhot or the Truc vert. Miles of white sandy beaches. Arcachon is the oldest resort on the Côte d'Argent. Boat trips on the bassin are easily available with trips to Archachon, Île aux Oiseaux and the Dune de Pyla, the highest sand dune in Europe.

Ski: Ski ing is found in Andorre and Pyrenese alps - 2 hours drive

Golf: Golf course in Andernos as well as Cap ferret ,Lacanau and Gujan Maetras.

Recommended Accomodation-Arcachon Coast & Bordeaux

My family stayed in this ideally situated Villa for main summer holiday. It was less than 30 minutes from the airport and missed all of the Bordeaux traffic. The facilities were clean and well maintained and the owners guide gave a good indication of the hidden gems as well as the more obvious areas to visit. The property was spacious with plenty of garden area for the kids to play in as well as the wooded area directly opposite to collect pine cones and play in the shade. It is a fabulous base for exploring with safe, sandy beaches close by as well as the Pila sand dunes (biggest in Europe) and the charming town of Arcachon. Seafood lovers will gorge on the oysters and the Bordeaux vineyards are well within reach. Andernos itself is just a good size to explore on foot or using the many excellent bikepaths. The people were friendly and very good with children. Even a little French attempted goes a long way with the locals and with the expected variety of fine food and wine we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the specialist clothes shops and spent a little too much time at the home made ice cream vendor (you can always walk it off later).
I have recommended this accomodation to friends and one couple have also used it and were similarly delighted. It seems to blend the ability to live like a local without the tourist trap issues of being so close to the beach, forests and lakes.
The owners were quick to reply to any concerns ahead of the trip and took the time to make sure that we had everything that we needed (such as emergency translation). The bathroom facilities were all new and showers were hot and powerful which had been a concern ahead of the holiday. Nothing was too much trouble and I would definitely use it again even as a base to work out of Bordeaux, so handy is the transfer time for the benefit of being in Andernos, would also consider it for a short break as the weather is so fantastic.
Overall the villa represented excellent value for money and I would urge a little bit of preparation to understand how to get the best from the area and your trip as it depends on your preferences and can be catered for within the stay. Definitely going back as this area has a little bit of something for everyone. Recommended.
Owner's Response: We like to ensure that people get the full benefit of the all attractions in the area that we have enjoyed over the past 15 + years. The villa is located in an area that is suitable for all year round long week ends and family breaks.

The perfect Bordeaux/beach getaway

For a family with young children the beach town of Andernos could not be a more perfect setting! For sun-lovers the beaches in this part of the world are beautiful, safe and clean - as the other reviewers for this property have all commented! And when you need to seek out the shade the amazing pine forests which surround you are just blissful! The proximity of the city of Bordeaux gives any adults in your party that perfect cultural fix - it really is one of the world's great cities! We're all keen cyclists in our family and so the real joy of this holiday was the ability to park up the car and go everywhere by bike - made easy by the many wonderful cycle paths. Andernos is bubbly and lively in the summer, but small enough for all the kids to feel at home there straightaway. There are some fabulous eateries too - although we also really enjoyed the pleasure of buying fabulous food locally, preparing it at the holiday house and relaxing over a long meal on the terrace (washed down with local wine) while the kids scampered round the safe and secluded garden. The house was perfect for us: impeccably clean, bright and airy - and SO close to the beaches and town, while also feeling quiet and secluded. The owner was able to provide a wealth of useful information which helped us get the most out of our trip and to discover the most beautiful spots in the local area. Would highly recommend! Great location for exploring the area

The villa is situated in a very quiet and safe residential area of Andernos - which itself is a lovely seaside town - but also provided a great base for exploring the area. Day trips to Bordeaux, St Emilion, Medoc, Arcachon, Lacanau, Cap Feret and Dune du Pilat were all within an easy drive from the house. The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to cook on some days and the local seaside restaurants provided us with some delicious meals on others. Bed linen, towels, kitchen and bathroom were all clean and of a good standard. We had a great week and would definitely recommend the area!

Our great holiday

We went to Arcachon Villa two years ago now & our children are still talking about it & asking when we can return. It was located perfectly for the beautiful safe bay/harbours. The beaches were fabulous & so safe for the children. The town had great eating places & lovely atmosphere, not full of holiday makers, so you felt you were really away! Easy distance to Dune du Pyla, Stunning Cap Ferret, Water Park, etc. Great facilities in town, including great market, but also hyper markets nearby. Will be returning next summer. House perfect for our needs (children wished the pool was full though?!)
Owner's Response: Andernos is great for young children due to the shallow beach on the bassin at Andernos and for older folks on the atlantic side or on the inland water ways. In some years in summer there are water restrictions for the childrens knee high pool but the beach is only 5 minutes away. Andernos boasts some 30 + restaurants ranging from typical south west cooking to Italian, French and German. The wine region is on your doorstep.

Property exactly as described - quiet and peaceful with lots of wild life around. Great area really geared up to cycling everywhere, just park the car in the drive and walk or use a bike. So many places to eat in Andernos or Ares at all sorts of prices and we didn't have a bad meal. Venture a little further again by bike into the Atlantic coast area or towards Cap Ferrat and there are miles of wonderful tarmac tracks through the forests that in September were almost deserted. Really easy safe cycling suitable for all ages. If you want to go further afield (by car) the Medoc area or Bordeaux can easily fill up a day, Bordeaux's new tram system is a bit confusing to a car driver at first as you seem to be using the tram lines and drive through the stations in some areas - follow the car in front and don't panic! Great holiday destination that we would happily go back to.
