Chamonix apartment sleeps 4-14
Not Chamonix Sud, our local slum. Old building with some charm (built for railway workers, close to and looks like the station) but no architectural merit. Apartment fully renovated (insulation, new full size kitchen, tiled and laminate floors). West balcony with limited mountain views. 5 or less minutes' walk to town, Aiguille du Midi (Vallée Blanche) lift. Bus stop 100 yards. Car useful because Chamonix valley has many different ski areas with differing characteristics. Practical, not luxurious, fitments and furniture.

Unpackaged Tours
Great for those who have experienced previous disappointments due to weather, unsympathetic mountain guides, etc. Book the apartment and tell us (fairly honestly) your level of experience and focus of interest. We will direct you to a local guide who will guarantee to exhilarate you for the duration you choose. Activity as a function of the weather. (No point in climbing Mt Blanc in the rain, but rain not a barrier to fun elsewhere.) Specialist equipment (crampons, skins, ice axes, woolly bears, rubber boats, friends, harnesses) available.
Out of season
Chamonix is never out of season. Even in May, June, October, November, the bars and restaurants are open, you just have to use a bit more imagination. Try high mountain ski tours or hot rock climbing in May, botany in June, autumn colours and culture in October, hunting in November / December. Profit from low rental rates and our 19 years of experience.
LARGE GROUPS / CLUBS
Yes it is possible to find several apartments if you are in a large group. Of course, last minute bookings in high season for two rugby teams or similar is difficult. Note that further accommodation is variable in quality (from clean but basic to ludicrously luxurious) and there can be no guarantee of availability without prepayment.
Other Activities all mountain activities
Skiing Information:
You have an ambition to do one of the grand classic descents? Name your route, we supply details of itinerary, time, difficulty, best season, snow conditions required. Ex. Couloir des Csomiques: March - May (occasionally all year) Difficult (S5), no climbing required, risk high before the dog leg; after good snow fall useful to fill the bergschrund / rimaye. Ex. Mt Blanc de Tacul: late season but lateral bands of crevasses, NW exposure and convex shape make it frequently murderous. 3-4 hours ascent. Fun but only difficult in descent (S4), continue by Vallée Blanche if still possible. Balance of avalanche risk / boasting rights / crevasse dangers / fun gives it the thumbs down.
