Breathtaking location in beautiful La Clusaz: Suits self catering winter skiing and/or a summer holiday. Panoramic views. This stunning south facing apartment is comfortably appointed, and includes a fireplace, balcony with BBQ, garage and ski locker.

It is on two floors: At first floor; a large master bedroom includes a double + single bed. Gallery with two single beds. At Ground floor; open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with large dining table, and sofa by fireplace, second double bedroom. Bathroom per floor. The Kitchen is well equipped with microwave, oven and grill, electric hob, fridge, dishwasher and fondue/raclette set! Private washing machine and dryer in basement. Situated in a chalet of only 8 independent apartments.

Close to La Balme ski slopes (10 min walk, or 2 mins by car) which fully links into resort. Only 100m to ski bus stop. Approx 7 mins drive to village centre and the ESF ski school/ shops etc. Lac des Confins is 10 mins walk. Lake Annecy only 30 mins drive.

La Clusaz is one of a very small group of renowned French ski resorts which are not purpose built, but are located next to world class ski areas. Indeed this traditional Savoyard village is regarded by some as one of the most picturesque in France. It has attracted tourists since the beginning of the 20th C, and enjoyed its 100th Anniversary in 2007.

The Village of La Clusaz is unspoilt and beautifully located in the Aravis mountains. The chalets are traditional, with wooden shingles. It positively welcomes families, and with its proximity to popular Lake Annecy (only 30 minutes drive) offers unrivalled opportunities for year round holidays.

For eating out there is an excellent choice of over two dozen restaurants, and excellent apres-ski in the village. There are also a number of restaurants within 10 minutes walking.

The resort is fully integrated across 5 mountains.

In 2010 a new 5 star hotel opened in the Village. Further major investments are 'in hand'.

  • Prices quoted include utilities, bed linen, tea towels, bath mats etc. There is a local tax of 75 cents per person per night which entitles you to free bus pass, local discount card etc. Will we collect that on arrival. Please bring your own Bath towels.

    Week-end lets and mid-week lets available only by arrangement, generally at short notice.
    Multi-week discounts available: 5% for 2 weeks, 10% for 3 weeks.

  • Price quoted in Euros. We prefer payment direct to our French Bank Account (you can easily arrange this with your bank for a small fee). We can accept cheques and bank transfers to our Uk account, but have to add £25 to cover banking costs. We can also take credit card payments at another 3.5% surcharge. Alex (son of owner) lives locally, and will manage your booking. He collects all payments and deposits, and will meet you on arrival.

    Alex can also pre-order your lift passes so they will be ready when you arrive (at no cost to you), book ski lessons for you, and can arrange pre-orders of food, drink and firewood to save you the trouble on arrival. Contact us to discuss your requirments.

Notes: Kitchen area enlarged in 2010 to make it much more useable. Built in BBQ on external balcony. Floor Area is over both floors. Min height = 1.45 m (first floor ceiling is sloping). Private basement garage + Personal Washing Machine and Dryer located also in the basement, in a communal laundry room. Ski locker at front entrance. We recommend a maximum of 6 guests (preferably 4 adults/ 2 children) for your enjoyment (even though there are more than 6 beds available). In France the property is registered 2 star for up to 6 occupants. We do not think it suits three adult couples, as the balcony area does not provide sufficient privacy. NOTE: The French registration of properties is very strict and follows regular inspection by them, and our agency, to maintain very high standards and quality control of rental property. The agency we use does not keep sub-standard properties on its books, to avoid complaints about quality by its customers.

Resort Information - winter and summer: In brief La Clusaz, together with Grand Bornand, covers 5 inter-connected mountain massifs with over 220 km of ski pistes. Official ski season runs from approx Dec 20 to the end of April. In 2007 the pistes and lifts on L'Etale were upgraded.

Overall the runs are classified as follows:

40 green - easy

45 blue - intermediate

36 red - hard

10 black - very hard

Very close to the Apartment is the Plateau des Confins with over 50 km of Ski de Fond pistes and a ski school. The 2006 coupe du monde was held there.

Altitude ranges from 1100 (at village) to 2600 m.

The property is at 1300m, from the village (approx 7 minutes by car from village centre). It faces the Col de Balme (2616m) which has two cable cars within walking distance, linked into the resort / village. The free ski bus stop is only 100 yards from the property. Close by is the Lac des Confins and ski plateau. It is a perfect location for enjoying the ski pistes or cross country ski-ing. Families are welcomed, not dogs!

Resort information - summer or winter: La Clusaz is experiencing quality investment. A 5 star hotel opened in 2010.

If you are not a piste skier, of note the location is ideal for enjoying cross country skiing in the winter at the adjacent Plateau des Confins, which has 52 kms of trails. A 7 km trail goes to Grand- Bornand. Walking in the summer is literally on the doorstep, with endless possibilities of glorious panoramas without involving a car.

In high summer the ski lifts operate, allowing walkers, sightseers, and mountain bikers to make the most of the possibilities.

Fishing permits are available for the nearby lake which is stocked with Trout.

A number of excellent Restaurants are approx 10 minutes walk away, near the Lac des Confins.

The Tourist board in La Clusaz operates a busy programme of entertainments in both the winter and summer seasons, with the emphasis on families. Brochures are available.

There is an excellent market every Monday in the Village.

There is a cinema in the village.

Transport: We recommend you travel by car, but we can offer a pick up and return to Geneva Airport through 'Aravis Transfers', to save you hiring a car. The cost for this commences at 150e return fare (for the whole bus). For more information please enquire with your booking request.

Appartment at Les Confins, La Clusaz

Excellent modern appartment, very well equipped. Superb location with wonderful views. It was within walking distance of the cross country skiing area of Les Confins and the Alpine skiing area of La Balme with La Clusaz being a short bus ride away on the free ski bus.
Very comfortable for 4 adults, but would be cramped for 6 due to limited living space and very small kitchen area.
Property was in a modern block of 8 with underground garage area - although our garage was very difficult to get into. The appartment and property as a whole was very clean and well maintained.
Would definitely recommend it for 4 adults - but could be difficult for young children due to limited living space and open stairs.
Owner's Response: We are pleased with this review but need to comment upon some issues raised by it.

We do not disagree that the apartment is best suited to only 4 adults ie rather than 6 adults, but if 2, 3 or 4 adults are accompanied by children, teenagers etc we believe that a total of 6 are very well suited.

We find the first floor gallery area best for 2 children or teenagers to sleep. The open tread stairs would not be a problem for any children capable of skiing! The balustrades are safe.

The sanitary accommodation is very generous compared to other apartments, and this works very well for parties of 6.

The kitchen is admittedly of compact design, but it is surprisingly well equipped and serviced. We have catered for 8 and admit this is stretching its capacity to the limit.

The garage is best reversed into.

Since March 2008 we have relaid the first floor bedroom and gallery in timber laminate.

Apartment with gorgeous view

We have stayed in this property twice, once at Christmas and the other at New Year's. The property is quiet, in the Confins area of La Clusaz and close to La Balme for skiers. This year we had six people staying in the apartment and we did run out of hot water every day as the timer was not working during the day. The apartment is best suited for 4 people although we managed with six because 4 of them were young people. La Clusaz was very busy for New Year's and we found driving into La Clusaz between 4-6p.m. very difficult with a long ques coming down the mountain. Parking was also very hard to find in the town. Otherwise we had a very good week and love the area and the town. New Years Eve was wonderful with fireworks over the town and a row of skiers coming down the mountain with torches.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers
Owner's Response: We are proud of the fact we are getting regular repeat bookings from our guests. This not only reflects well on La Clusaz, but on our Apartment too. All our repeat guests will notice we have a policy of regularly upgrading the available fittings and furnishings. In 2010 for instance we expanded the kitchen which had been somewhat cramped in the past. The main bedroom was fully upgraded in 2009.

We have always contended that 6 adults are not suited to the accommodation despite the generous facilities on offer.

The hot water problem has been resolved as a consequence of the feedback we received: a new hot water cylinder had been installed in early 2010 and had been unknowingly on a night time setting ever since. This had been the first complaint about the water temperature since the new tank was installed, so we hope no other guests have been quietly suffering. The tank is certainly big enough for 6, and now the setting is on 24 hour, there will be no shortages of hot water! We suspect we dropped at least one star through the water problem sadly encountered by our guests, and hope they will make a third visit before too long!
