Resort Information:
In brief La Clusaz, together with Grand Bornand, covers 5 inter-connected mountain massifs with over 220 km of ski pistes. Official ski season runs from approx Dec 20 to the end of April. In 2007 the pistes and lifts on L'Etale were upgraded.
Overall the runs are classified as follows:
40 green - easy
45 blue - intermediate
36 red - hard
10 black - very hard
Very close to the Apartment is the Plateau des Confins with over 50 km of Ski de Fond pistes and a ski school. The 2006 coupe du monde was held there.
Altitude ranges from 1100 (at village) to 2600 m.
The property is at 1300m, from the village (approx 7 minutes by car from village centre). It faces the Col de Balme (2616m) which has two cable cars within walking distance, linked into the resort / village. The free ski bus stop is only 100 yards from the property. Close by is the Lac des Confins and ski plateau. It is a perfect location for enjoying the ski pistes or cross country ski-ing. Families are welcomed.
If you are not a piste skier, of note the location is ideal for enjoying cross country skiing in the winter at the adjacent Plateau des Confins, which has 52 kms of trails. A 7 km trail goes to Grand- Bornand. Walking in the summer is literally on the doorstep, with endless possibilities of glorious panoramas without involving a car.
In high summer the ski lifts operate, allowing walkers, sightseers, and mountain bikers to make the most of the possibilities.
Fishing permits are available for the nearby lake which is stocked with Trout.
In the summer season golfing is possible nearby.
A number of excellent Restaurants are approx 10 minutes walk away, near the Lac des Confins.
The Tourist board in La Clusaz operates a busy programme of entertainments in both the winter and summer seasons, with the emphasis on families. Brochures are available.
There is an excellent market every Monday morning in the Village.
For french speakers there is a local cinema.
